Expert Ski & Snowboard Boot Fitting

Real fitters, real adjustments, and a fit guarantee that lasts the life of the boot.

What Is A Boot Fitter?

A ski boot fitter is a trained specialist who matches you to the right boot shell, customizes the liner and footbed, and adjusts the fit so the boot transfers your movement to the ski — without pressure points or sloppy slop. At Willi's, our fitters have been doing this in Pittsburgh since 1970.

Boot Fit Guarantee

Every boot we sell is backed by a lifetime fit guarantee. If it isn't right, bring it back — to any Willi's location — and we'll keep adjusting until it is.

Boot Fitting Is The Most Important Part Of Your Setup

Most skiers blame their skis when something feels off. It's almost always the boots. A boot that's a half-size too big, a shell that's the wrong last, a footbed that lets your arch collapse — every one of those problems costs you control and shows up as fatigue by lunch.

Willi's was founded by Austrian ski racer Willi Klein in 1970, and today it's still family-run. Greg Willis — Willi's son, a former international ski racer who lived in Austria and competed on CU's 1991 NCAA national championship team — leads the shop with his wife Kjerstin. The boot bench is where five decades of racing-rooted fit knowledge actually lives.

Our fitters look at your foot, your stance, your skiing, and the boots in front of you. Then they work the shell, the liner, and the footbed until your boot does what it's supposed to do — transfer power to the ski cleanly and stay comfortable doing it.

What Boot Fitting At Willi's Includes

Every fitting is custom. These are the tools we have on the bench.

Custom Boot Fitting

Full assessment: foot shape, stance, skiing style. Matched to the right shell, then dialed in on the bench.

Pre-Molded Footbeds

Affordable, trim-to-fit footbeds in three arch heights from Sidas and Treviso. Most skiers feel the difference immediately.

Custom Footbeds

Sidas Conformable Custom Pro footbeds, molded to the exact contour of your arch for maximum comfort and power transfer.

Shell & Liner Work

Heat molding, punching, grinding, stretching. Whatever the boot needs to fit your foot — not the other way around.

Footbeds: The Foundation Of A Great Fit

A great fit starts from the ground up. A footbed stabilizes the foot inside the boot, reduces fatigue, and makes sure your natural movement actually reaches the ski.

We carry two tiers:

  • Pre-Molded Drop-In — Sidas and Treviso, three arch heights, fits most skiers and snowboarders.
  • Custom Molded — Sidas Conformable Custom Pro, shaped to your exact arch by a fitter in-shop.

Pro tip: Pair your footbeds with a thin performance sock. Thick socks bunch and create pressure points — a lighter sock lets the foot, boot, and footbed work as a system.

ZipFit Aftermarket Liners

For skiers who've already been fitted and want to take the boot one step further — ZipFit liners are heat-moldable, cork-cell aftermarket liners that conform to your foot and hold their shape for years. They routinely outlast the boot shells they're installed in.

Our boot bench has decades of experience installing and tuning ZipFits. We'll match the right model to your foot, your boot, and your skiing — race-room precision or all-mountain comfort, your call.

Not sure if ZipFits are right for you? Try them first. Our ZipFit Demo Program lets you ski on a pair before you commit. Or browse the full ZipFit collection when you're ready to upgrade.

Custom Shell & Liner Work

Even a well-matched boot sometimes needs a tweak. Our fitters can modify shells and liners to relieve pressure points, adjust volume, or fine-tune stance and alignment.

On the bench: liner heat molding, shell punching, plastic grinding, controlled stretching. We make sure your boots fit like they were built just for you — because by the time we're done, they essentially were.

Boot Fitting FAQs

Quick answers to the questions we get most often.

What is a ski boot fitter?

A ski boot fitter is a trained specialist who matches you to the right boot shell, customizes the liner and footbed, and adjusts the fit so the boot transfers your movement to the ski without pressure points or sloppy fit. At Willi's, our fitters have been doing this in Pittsburgh since 1970, and every boot we sell comes with a lifetime fit guarantee.

How long does a ski boot fitting take?

A first-time boot fitting at Willi's typically takes 60 to 90 minutes. That includes a foot assessment, shell sizing, liner work, and footbed selection. Follow-up adjustments under our Boot Fit Guarantee are usually 15 to 30 minutes.

Do I need custom footbeds for ski boots?

Not always. Pre-molded footbeds from Sidas and Treviso cover most skiers well — they're affordable and come in three arch heights. Custom footbeds like the Sidas Conformable Custom Pro are worth it if you ski a lot, have specific arch or alignment needs, or already feel pressure points in a stock boot.

What is the Boot Fit Guarantee?

Every boot we sell at Willi's comes with a lifetime fit guarantee. If something doesn't feel right — even years after the purchase — bring the boots back to any Willi's location and we'll keep adjusting them until the fit is right. No charge, no time limit.

Do you fit snowboard boots too?

Yes. Snowboard boots use different fit logic than ski boots — softer flex, more wrap, different pressure considerations — but the same principle applies: the boot has to match your foot and your riding style. Our fitters handle both.

Which Willi's locations do boot fitting?

All three of them. Boot fitting is offered at our South Hills shop on Library Rd, our North Hills shop on Perry Highway, and our Seven Springs shop on Water Wheel Dr. The same fitters, the same bench tools, the same lifetime fit guarantee at every location.

Do I need an appointment, or can I walk in?

Walk-ins are welcome and how most fittings start. If you'd rather lock in a time — especially during peak season — call your closest Willi's location and we'll get you on the bench when a fitter is free.
