The Pants
The Stoned Pant is Volcom's shell-only snow pant for women, built for riders who layer underneath rather than count on the pant itself for warmth. The V-Science 2-layer recycled fabric handles 10,000mm of waterproofing and 10,000g of breathability, so it sheds wet snow on a slushy afternoon and still lets moisture out when you're working hard on the way down. A PFAS Free DWR coating keeps water beading off the face fabric, and every seam is critically taped so a fall in a snowbank doesn't turn into a wet base layer. Slim fit through the leg with a mid rise, it sits close to the body without binding up your stride.
What We Like
The Zip Tech interface is the standout here - pair it with a compatible Volcom jacket and the two zip together, closing off the gap around your waist that usually lets in cold air and snow. A triple reinforced rise backs up the seat and inner thigh, the area that takes the most abuse from edges and repeat falls in the same spot. Internal boot gaiters lace down and cinch tight over your boots, so deep snow stays out even when you're post-holing to the lift. The V-Science Breathable Lining System adds comfort against a base layer without piling on bulk.
One honest limitation: this is a shell, not an insulated pant. On the coldest days you'll want a real base layer or a midlayer underneath - it's not going to keep you warm on its own.
Fit & Sizing
This one runs slim through the leg with a mid rise that sits at the natural waist - low enough that it won't dig in when you sit on a lift, high enough that it stays put without feeling like a bib. If you tend to layer heavy underneath on cold days, sizing up from what you'd wear in jeans gives you room to move without the fit going baggy. If you're planning to use the Zip Tech connection, bring your jacket in and we'll make sure the interface lines up before you head out the door.
Why Willis
We've been fitting Pittsburgh skiers and riders since 1970, and a shell pant only earns its keep if the rise and leg length actually match how you stand and move on snow. Stop into any of our three locations to try this one on, and our staff can help with hems or fit adjustments before your first day out.
