The Jacket

The Volcom 2836 Insulated Jacket is a baggy-fit snow jacket built for the rider who wants real waterproofing, real warmth, and a silhouette that doesn't look like it came off a race course. It's a snow jacket, full stop. The camo colorway makes it one of the sharper-looking pieces in our men's ski and snowboard jacket lineup this season.

Volcom rates it at 20,000mm waterproof and 20,000gm² breathability. That's a proper number — good for a long day out in wet snow, not just a quick lap in a flurry. The V-Science 2-Layer shell uses a recycled blend plain weave with a non-fluorinated DWR finish, so water beads and rolls off without the PFAS chemistry older outerwear relied on.

What Sets It Apart

The insulation is 60g in the body and 40g in the sleeves — recycled fill throughout. It's enough warmth for cold winter days, but this is a lightly insulated jacket. On a genuinely bitter day, plan to layer underneath.

Critically taped seams keep water from sneaking through the stitching. Zip Tech® lets you connect the jacket to a compatible pair of Volcom pants so the gap at your waist stops being a problem when you're in deep. The adjustable powder skirt with a hidden toggle cinch hood, Super Suede chin guard, V-Science cuff system, and a brushed tricot-lined hand warmer pockets round out the build. The specialty ticket ring — a nod to Volcom's denim roots — gives you a clean way to attach your lift ticket without clipping it to a zipper. Pocket-access hem cinch means no dangling cord bunching up when you pull the jacket down.

And there are mesh-lined zippered underarm vents. If you're pushing hard and start to overheat, open them up. It's a simple feature, but it matters on those shoulder-season days when the mountain can't decide what weather it's in.

The fit is baggy. There's room to layer a midweight fleece underneath and still move freely. That's the point. If you prefer a more athletic cut, this isn't the jacket for you — but for anyone who rides with a little extra room in mind, it fits exactly as intended. Sizing

The 2836 runs in a baggy fit, so it's intentionally roomy. Most riders will fit their usual size. If you're right between sizes and you plan to layer heavy, go up. If you're between sizes and you prefer a cleaner look over the base layer, stay at your normal size. Chest measurements below will get you in the right range.
