The Jacket is really cool

The Volcom 2836 Insulated Jacket has been around long enough to earn its reputation — and this camo colorway makes the '25 version one of the sharper-looking pieces we've had in the shop in a while. It's a baggy-fit, lightly insulated snow jacket built around Volcom's V-Science 2-Layer shell with a 20,000mm / 20,000gm² waterproof-breathable rating and a Non-Fluorinated DWR finish. That's a genuinely solid number for this price point. Sixty grams of recycled insulation keeps you warm through a full day without turning the jacket into a puffer — you're not sweating on a bluebird morning, and you're not shivering when the clouds roll in.

Critical taped seams mean water isn't sneaking through the stitching. The powder skirt clips in, the hood cinches down with a hidden toggle, and the Super Suede chin guard stops zipper rash on cold days. Real details, not filler.

Who It's For

This is the jacket for the guy who wants one thing to do everything — park laps, tree runs, a lift ride in a squall, and still looks decent grabbing food after. The baggy 91 Fit has room to layer a midlayer underneath without bunching, and the camo pattern hides a surprising amount of mountain grime. It's not a race jacket or a high-alpine mountaineering piece. Riders who need maximum warmth for all-day cold should look at a heavier insulation weight — 60g is a warm-active-use fill, not a sit-on-the-lift-in-January fill. But for a rider who runs warm, skis hard, and hates feeling like they're wearing a sleeping bag, this is the sweet spot.

Tech That Matters

V-Science 2-Layer Shell — Volcom's own waterproof-breathable construction. Recycled Blend Plain Weave face, bonded membrane, 20K rating on both waterproofing and breathability. Handles mixed conditions all day.

Zip Tech® — The jacket zips directly to compatible Volcom pants, sealing the gap at your waist. No snow creeping up your back on a hard fall.

Adjustable Powder Skirt — A step further than Zip Tech alone. Cinches around your waist inside the jacket as a second line of defence.

Mesh-Lined Zippered Vents — Dump heat fast when you need to without fully opening the jacket.

Specialty Ticket Ring — Clips your lift ticket securely without the dangling lanyard. Borrowed from Volcom's denim hardware — a small thing that matters when the wind picks up.

V-Science Cuff System — Adjustable cuffs seal at the glove. No gap, no cold air up your sleeve.

Hidden Toggle Cinch Hood — Removable hood with a clean adjustment toggle that doesn't snag on your helmet or leave cord flopping around. Super Suede chin guard takes care of the zip-to-face contact.

Sizing

The 2836 runs in Volcom's relaxed 91 Fit — intentionally roomy. Most riders take their normal size. If you're between sizes and plan to layer a hoodie or midlayer underneath, go up. If you're running it over just a base layer and want it a touch cleaner through the shoulders, stay true to size. The Pocket Access Hem Cinch at the bottom lets you dial in the silhouette either way.
