The Ski
The Stöckli Montero AR is an 84 mm frontside carver built around pure performance mentality. It's got the smooth, arc character of a race ski, but the 84 mm waist and All Mountain Rocker keep it usable when the day takes you off the groomed. This is a ski for people who carve, not just ski fast.
For 2027, Stöckli reworked the Titanal layup. The notched sheet with the Flex Torsion Control cutouts moves to the bottom of the ski, and the full-width sheet shifts to the top. The result is more torsional rigidity at the shovel and tail without stiffening the ride at slower speeds. Same shape, same dimensions, noticeably sharper edge response.
The light poplar and beech wood core gives the ski energy without weight. Solid Metal Edge Light keeps grip reliable on firm snow. Racing Sidewalls Black tighten up the feel from edge to edge. And the Racing Graphite base runs quick off the wax iron.
Who It's For
Advanced to expert skiers who want a true carving ski with enough range to handle a full day on varied terrain. The 84 mm waist and medium-to-large turn shape means this is a ski for skiers who like room to work — someone who favors long, high-speed arcs and gets frustrated when a groomer is too narrow to finish a turn. If your idea of a good run is wide, fast, and carved tip to tail, this ski was built for you.
It's not the right tool for someone who wants to dart around in tight trees or bang out quick short-radius turns. The AR rewards commitment. Bring it up to speed and it's exceptional. Push it into quick, choppy turns and it'll feel too long for the job. Skiers who want a shorter, more reactive shape should look at the Montero AX.
Tech That Matters
Flex Torsion Control: S-shaped cutouts in the Titanal at the shovel and tail soften the flex at both ends. Turn initiation is cleaner, the ski steers without fighting you, and the underfoot stays stiff and planted where you need it most.
Adaptive Contact Length: The widest point on the shovel is set further forward than a standard ski. As you tip the ski onto edge, the working contact length increases. At low angles you get playfulness. At high edge angles you get maximum grip. The ski adapts to how hard you're driving it.
All Mountain Rocker + Tail Rocker: A smooth tip rocker makes turn entry easy and keeps the shovel from grabbing in variable snow. The tail rocker releases cleanly at the end of the turn, so you're not fighting the finish. Camber underfoot keeps the power transfer direct.
