The Pants

The Spyder Dare has been a go-to insulated ski pant for a long time, and the 2027 version earns that rep on specs, not history. It's built from Spyder's EXO SHIELD 30K shell fabric — 100% recycled polyester, 4-way stretch — with a 30K waterproof laminate and a PFC-free DWR finish. Underneath that, 40g of PrimaLoft® ECO insulation keeps you warm on a cold morning without making the pant feel stiff or heavy.

The fit is tailored and close without being restrictive. Articulated knees mean you're not fighting the fabric when you're in a deep traverse or getting low on the chairlift. Snow gaiters seal tight around your boot, so you're not packing slush up your leg on a wet day. Thigh vents with YKK® AquaGuard® zippers let you dump heat when you're working hard.

The suspenders are a nice touch. They detach completely if you'd rather just wear the pant straight, but we find most skiers keep them on once they realize how well they hold the waist in place all day. The adjustable stretch waist and belt loops give you another fit option on top of that.

What We Like

The EXO SHIELD fabric is what we keep coming back to. It moves well, it sheds snow cleanly, and it doesn't feel like a garbage bag. The pocket layout is well thought out. Hand pockets, a zip thigh pocket, and a back pocket, all with YKK® hardware. Seams are fully sealed. The scuff guard around the hem handles the abuse from ski edges without fraying. These are details that hold up over a few seasons, not just opening weekend.

Available in Black Melange, Indigo Melange, and Spyder Red. The melange colorways have a subtle texture to them — clean without being plain. Fitted cut, 32" inseam in a size M.
