The Jacket
The Spyder Challenger has been a go-to toddler ski jacket for years, and the 2027 version keeps everything parents count on. It's built around a 10K/10K EXO SHIELD stretch recycled polyester shell — that's 10,000mm of waterproofing and 10,000g of breathability — paired with 120g of Sorona® insulation. Warm enough for a cold morning on the bunny hill, light enough that little ones can actually move. The shell carries a DWR finish and is produced without PFAS chemicals, so it's cleaner for the environment too.
One feature we always point parents to: the Small to Tall extendable sleeve. Pull a stitch and you get an extra 1.5 inches of sleeve length, which means this jacket can stretch across two seasons instead of one. For a growing kid, that matters. The removable hood is helmet-compatible with an inner hood gaiter, the powder skirt snaps and grips at the waist, and the seams are taped at the critical spots. There's a goggle pocket, a data card pocket, and YKK® zippers throughout — these are the details you'd expect on a bigger kid's jacket.
What we like
The Small to Tall sleeve is a genuine money-saver. Most toddler jackets fit one season and that's it. This one buys you a second year without looking stretched out. We also like that the hood comes off cleanly — a lot of toddler hoods stay attached and bunch up under a helmet. The Sorona® insulation holds warmth well even when damp, and 120g is the right amount for this age group: not so much that they're overheating on a sunny day in March. Check out our full kids jackets collection if you want to compare it against other options we carry.
Why Willi's
We've been fitting kids for ski season since 1970, and we know that toddler gear has to be right — because if it's not comfortable, they're done skiing by 10am. Stop in at any of our three locations and we'll help you find the right size. We also run a Junior Buyback Program, so ask us about it when you come in.
