The Goggle

The Shred Totality NoShock is Shred's best-selling helmet, and once you pick one up you understand why. It's a hardshell with a low-profile, deep-fit shape — think skate-influenced, clean lines, nothing fussy. The SHRED.shield™ toughened ABS shell is tough enough to take real abuse season after season, and underneath it you get Shred's SMART IMPACT PROTECTION SYSTEM™ working two jobs at once.

That system pairs the ROTATIONAL ENERGY SYSTEM™ (RES) — ultra-thin, multi-directional absorption units that let the helmet move slightly relative to your head on angled impacts — with integrated SLYTECH™ SHOCK ABSORPTION. The SLYTECH layer is a honeycomb-cone structure made of proprietary foam bonded right into the Super Light EPS core. It handles the linear and multi-directional forces the RES doesn't. Together they cover more of the impact picture than a standard EPS-only lid.

Twelve fixed vents with metal mesh covers move air through the helmet and channel warm air away from your goggles to keep them from fogging. They're not adjustable, so on a cold, bluebird day this helmet runs warm — which most people consider a feature, not a problem. The removable, washable XT2® comfort liner uses silver-based anti-microbial technology for permanent odor protection, so the liner stays fresh even after a full season of hard use.

What we Like

We like that the protection story here is real and specific. A lot of helmets say "rotational protection" and bury the details. Shred's RES is a patent-pending mechanical system with actual slip zones between the shell and your head — not a marketing badge. Pair that with the SLYTECH honeycomb foam at the impact zones and you've got a helmet that handles both straight-on hits and the angled ones that cause the most brain stress.

We also like the deep, occipital-hugging fit. It wraps around the back of your head in a way a lot of helmets don't, and that makes it feel locked in without cranking the rear dial. The XT2® liner is genuinely soft against the forehead. And the skate-inspired profile sits lower on your head than a typical ski helmet, so it looks sharp without being a bulky blob on your head.

The Totality NoShock fits S, M, and L. Use Shred's published head circumference ranges to find your size — a rear dial system lets you fine-tune within each size band. The fit is described as deep and snug, cupping the back of the head. Bring your goggles when you try it on — goggle-to-helmet compatibility matters, and we'll help you check the fit in-store.
