The Binding

The Salomon Strive 12 GW is an all-mountain alpine binding built around one core idea: get the boot closer to the ski. That LDN toe piece sits noticeably lower than a standard binding, which means more terrain feedback under your feet and quicker edge-to-edge response when you push into a turn. It's a real difference, especially on firmer snow where you want to feel exactly what's happening at the tip.

What Sets It Apart

The LDN toe is the headline, but the rest of the binding earns its place too. The extra-wide toe pedal — over 60mm — gives you a broad contact platform that moves energy from your boot to the ski efficiently. XL wings wrap the boot tip more completely than a standard toe piece, so power transmission stays consistent when you're pushing hard. And automatic wing and toe height adjustment means the binding adapts to your boot's dimensions without manual tweaking — just step in and go.

Out back, the 3-part heel absorbs vibration and lets the heel release smoothly when it needs to. The Arch Heel adds lateral reinforcement to the heel unit. The 47mm of elastic travel in the toe wings is the key safety spec here: the binding handles big shocks — the kind that come from unexpected landings or ruts — without releasing prematurely, then returns the boot to center. That's a DIN 4–12 range, which suits a wide spread of intermediate to strong intermediate skiers, and it's TÜV certified.

GripWalk compatibility is standard here, meaning it works with both modern GripWalk soles (ISO 23223) and traditional Alpine soles (ISO 5355). If you've bought boots in the last few years, there's a good chance they're GripWalk — but bring your boots in when you stop by any of our three locations and we'll confirm before anything gets mounted.

Compatibility

The Strive 12 GW accepts GripWalk (ISO 23223) and Alpine (ISO 5355) adult boot soles. Brake width choices are 90mm and 100mm. Brake-to-ski matching is something we check at the shop — bring your skis and we'll make sure the brake width lines up correctly before mounting. These brakes can handle a little more than their stated width if needed.
