The Snowboard
The Sleepwalker Grom is Salomon's park-focused junior board — a true twin built for groms who are starting to figure out the terrain park and want a board that encourages them to push it. It's not a beginner-only board with beginner-only tech. This thing carries real freestyle DNA: True Twin shape, Rock Out Camber, and a Popster core, shrunk into lengths that fit kids who are ready to start exploring jumps and boxes.
It rides regular or switch with the same feel in both directions, the camber underfoot gives it enough response for intentional turns, and the rocker at tip and tail makes presses and butters way more approachable. BiteFree Edges — fully detuned tip to tail — take away a lot of the snappy edge catches that punish newer riders on harder snow. Softer flex at a 4 out of 10 means younger riders can actually bend it, which matters on small features. That same softness does limit it on faster, more aggressive riding as kids grow, but for the park-progression stage, it's exactly right.
Pair it with bindings from our junior snowboard bindings collection and you're most of the way to a full setup.
Who it's For
The Sleepwalker Grom fits beginner-to-intermediate riders, roughly ages 7 to 14, who are past the very first turns stage and starting to get interested in the park. The True Twin shape and centered stance make it a better choice than a directional all-mountain board for any kid who wants to hit boxes, jumps, or side hits regularly. If your grom just wants groomed runs and isn't interested in freestyle yet, the Sleepwalker Grom is still a perfectly solid board — it just does more than they'll use right away.
Check out our Junior Buyback Program if your rider is still growing fast. It's a practical way to stay in the right size year to year without paying full price every season.
Tech That Matters
- Rock Out Camber: Flat between the bindings for stability, camber underfoot for edge hold and response, rocker at tip and tail for easy presses and forgiving landings.
- True Twin: Identical tip and tail lengths with a centered stance — rides the same regular or switch.
- Popster Construction: The Aspen core is milled inside the insert packs so the board flexes more naturally underfoot and sends energy into the nose and tail for extra pop off features.
- BiteFree Edges: Fully detuned tip to tail. Edge catches happen less, and when they do, the consequence is lower.
- EQ Rad Sidecut: Blends equalizer straight lines and radial lines for a feel that's both playful and precise.
- Extruded EG Base: Low maintenance, no sintering needed, with Electra added for better glide than standard extruded.
- BA LD Fiberglass: Low-density fiber keeps the board light and maintains that forgiving, playful flex over time.
- FSC Certified Wood Core: Aspen core, responsibly sourced.
