The Snowboard
The Salomon Sight is a men's all-mountain board with a freeride shape, medium flex, and enough forgiveness that it genuinely works for riders still figuring things out. Cross Profile rocker-camber-rocker through the tips, camber underfoot, and a tapered directional outline with 20mm of stance setback. That combo means stable carves on packed groomers and a nose that doesn't dive when groomers give way to softer stuff.
The extruded base won't win a speed contest against a sintered setup, but it's dead simple to maintain. Ding it, scrape it, hot-wax it — it takes a beating and keeps moving. For a beginner-to-intermediate rider logging a lot of days and learning what they like, it's the right call.
Who it's For
This board is aimed at riders in the beginner-to-intermediate range who want one board for the whole resort. If you're linking turns on groomers and starting to explore off-trail when conditions allow, the Sight's medium flex (3 out of 5) and forgiving tip rocker make it approachable without feeling like you've outgrown it the moment you improve. The tapered directional shape means it rides best pointed downhill — switch riding is possible, but it's not what this board is built around. Riders looking to spend time in the park or spin tricks will want something with a true twin shape instead. Boot sole width matters here too: the 158W and 162W sizes exist for riders with bigger feet who'd otherwise get boot overhang on a regular-width board. Bring your boots in and we'll tell you which width you need.
Tech that matters
Cross Profile is Salomon's name for their rocker-camber-rocker setup. Camber between the bindings gives you grip and pop on edge. Rocker in the tip and tail lifts the contact points so the board doesn't catch in soft or choppy snow. It's a genuinely good all-mountain profile — predictable on hardpack, forgiving when things get messy.
Tapered Directional Shape runs a wider nose into a narrower tail — the taper runs 2–20mm depending on size. That loosens up the tail so it releases through the end of a turn without getting squirrely. Combined with the 20mm setback, the nose naturally floats higher when snow gets deeper.
Quadratic Sidecut blends multiple sidecut radii across the edge. On the 156 that's a 7.1m radius. The result is a smooth transition from initiation to completion — you don't have to force the board into a turn shape.
Royal Cork Pads sit in the sidewalls and absorb chatter. On a firmer snow day, that damping makes a real difference in how controlled the board feels underfoot.
All Mountain EB edges come pre-set at 1.5° base and 1.5° side bevel. They grip well right out of the wrapper — you won't need an immediate tune to ride with confidence. Stop by our tuning shop when the edges start to dull and we'll get them sharp again.
The Aspen/Popster wood core wrapped in BIAX MD Fiberglass keeps weight reasonable — the 156 comes in at 2.75kg — and gives the board lively, consistent flex without dead spots.
Why Willi's
We've been fitting riders into snowboards since the 90's. If you're not sure whether you want the regular or wide version, or whether this is the right board for where you are as a rider, come into any of our three locations and we'll sort it out. We can set up your bindings and tune your edges before you walk out the door.
