The Snowboard

The Salomon Oh Yeah Grom is the junior-sized version of Salomon's popular women's Oh Yeah, and it brings the same freestyle DNA down to smaller riders. True Twin shape means the nose and tail are identical, so kids can ride switch right away without fighting the board. Rock Out Camber keeps it stable and poppy underfoot, with rocker at the tips to stay forgiving when things get squirrelly. BiteFree Edges are fully detuned tip to tail straight from the factory. No nasty catches on groomers, no drama in the park. And the Aspen core keeps the overall weight down so younger riders aren't wrestling a board all day.

Who It's For

This is a beginner-to-intermediate board for kids who are past the teriminal bunny hill stage and starting to mess around with jumps, boxes, and riding switch. The medium flex gives them something to work with as they progress, but it's still forgiving enough that a day-one rider won't hate life. We'd hand this to a kid who's ready to start having opinions about snowboarding rather than just surviving it. The 127 fits lighter riders in the 66–110 lb range, the 133 covers 77–121 lbs, and the 138 handles riders up to 132 lbs. Pair it with a good set of junior snowboard bindings and you've got a solid setup they can grow into.

Tech That Matters

Rock Out Camber is flat between the feet for stability, with camber underfoot for edge response and rocker at the tip and tail for pressability and easy turn entry. It's a forgiving profile that still has some life to it.

Popster Construction with Aspen Core — Salomon shapes the core profile to add snap without adding weight. Aspen is a light, lively wood that punches above its size.

BiteFree Edges are detuned from tip to tail before the board leaves the factory. Kids catch edges. This makes that a lot less likely.

EQ Rad Sidecut blends straight and radial lines for a sidecut that feels nimble without being twitchy. Good for learning to carve.

BIAX MD Fiberglass keeps the layup light and flexible enough for smaller riders to actually engage the board.
