The Snowboard

The Salomon Faction BOA® is a beginner-to-intermediate all-mountain boot built around one idea: get on snow faster, stay comfortable longer, and worry less about gear. It's a soft-flex, easy-entry boot that fits well out of the box and gets better from there.

Single-dial BOA® closure. Heat-moldable liner. Feather 1.0 outsole. Clean, low-profile silhouette. That's the package — and for most newer riders, it's exactly what the situation calls for.

Who it's For

Beginners picking up their first real pair of boots and intermediates who want all-day comfort without fighting their gear. The Faction BOA® runs a regular width and fits a standard foot well. The soft flex keeps ankles moving freely, which helps beginners develop balance and keeps casual all-mountain riders comfortable over longer days. If you're charging hard groomers or heading into serious powder, you'll want more boot. But for building a foundation, racking up laps, and learning what snowboarding is supposed to feel like, this one earns its place. Half-size accuracy matters here — Salomon's FTR/1:1 construction means every half size in the liner matches every half size in the shell, so a good fit is actually achievable.

Tech that Matters

BOA® H4 Coiler™ + TX3 Lace: One dial, push to engage, turn to tighten, pull to release. Fast, consistent, no frozen laces.

Fit To Ride (FTR) / 1:1 Construction: The shell runs 10% lighter and 10% more compact than traditional construction without giving up durability. And because the liner and shell size together in half-size steps, you're not guessing at fit.

Full Custom Fit™ Liner Foam: Heat-moldable multi-density foams through the entire liner, shaping to the shin, ankle, and heel over time. It's the kind of liner that feels noticeably better by week three than it did on day one.

Feather 1.0 Outsole: EVA paired with Salomon's contaGRIP® rubber — lightweight underfoot with real traction in the parking lot and at the base area. It absorbs shock on landings, which a soft boot takes more of than you'd think.

Molded Tongue: Helps the boot flex progressively and improves the fit profile across the top of the foot.

Imprint Insole: Basic, comfortable, does its job. Riders who want more arch support can swap in a custom footbed.

Why Willi's

We've been fitting snowboard boots in the Pittsburgh area since 1970, and we know the difference between a boot that sizes right on the shelf and one that actually fits your foot. Come into any of our three locations and we'll heat-mold the liner right in the shop. Bring your board if you have questions about binding fit — we'll sort it all out at once.
