The Boot
The Salomon S/Pro Supra 90 is a men's all-mountain ski boot built on a 100mm last with a 90 flex. That combination covers a lot of ground: it's forgiving enough that you're not fighting the boot home after a long day, and it's got enough backbone to actually transmit your input to the ski when you push into a turn. Flex 90 sits right in that sweet spot for skiers who are past the beginner stage and developing real technique, without demanding the kind of aggressive stance that a stiffer boot requires.
It's a solidly built intermediate boot. Skiers who are ready to push into expert-level terrain will probably want to look at Salomon's 110 or 120 options in this line.
Who it's For
Strong beginners and developing intermediates are the target here. You're skiing parallel, linking turns on blue and low-black terrain, and you want a boot that supports your foot without punishing you. Skiers with an average-width foot — not notably narrow, not notably wide — will find the 100mm last fits without a lot of immediate customization work, though the Custom Shell™ HD process is there when you need it.
If you need expert boot fitting, custom footbeds, or shell modifications, our staff at any of our three locations handles that in-store — and we strongly recommend coming in rather than sizing off a chart alone. Ski boot fit is personal, and a 27.5 in one brand can feel nothing like a 27.5 in another.
Flex & Fit
Flex 90 reads as medium. In practice, it's a progressive, relatively smooth flex — not a wall at the top of the range. On groomed runs it gives you clean feedback. On variable snow it stays manageable. Your shin should be able to push into the cuff without a fight, but the boot still drives the ski when you mean it to.
The 100mm last is genuinely mid-volume. It's not wide. It won't accommodate a foot that truly needs a 104mm shell. But it's not narrow either, and most skiers with average foot width find it comfortable without any shell work. For foot lengths in the 25.5 to 30.5 mondopoint range, this boot covers junior-to-adult crossover up through a solid size 12 US.
If you're unsure between two sizes, go smaller rather than larger. Ski boot liners pack out, and a boot that feels a little firm in the shop will be exactly right a few days in.
Tech that Matters
Custom Shell™ HD: Salomon's heat-molding process works on the lower shell and cuff in about 10 minutes. Thin-wall construction is part of why it works — less material between your foot and the ski.
3D Instep Shell: The 45° buckle angle and thinner plastic at the instep keep your heel locked in place without clamping down on the top of your foot. It's a real fix to a real problem.
S/Pro CF Liner: Pre-shaped at the ankle, heat-moldable, elastic toe box. Warm enough for cold days, structured enough to keep your foot in position.
GripWalk Soles (ISO 23223): Pre-mounted. Better grip walking, and compatible with GripWalk-ready bindings. Bring your skis in and we'll confirm binding compatibility before you buy.
Riveted Cuff Alignment Pivot: Adjusts forward lean and leg angle. More useful than it sounds — small cuff alignment changes can fix edge contact issues that no amount of buckle tension will solve.
Why Willi's
We've been fitting ski boots in Pittsburgh since 1970, and boot fitting is something we take seriously — heat molding, custom footbeds, shell modifications, and follow-up adjustments are all part of what happens in our shop. Come into any of our three locations with your ski socks on and let us do this right.
