The Boot

The Salomon S/Pro Supra 85 W is a women's all-mountain ski boot built around a 100mm medium-volume last. It's aimed squarely at intermediate skiers who want a real fit — not just a boot that closes — and it delivers that through a combination of a heat-moldable liner and a shell that your bootfitter can personalize in about ten minutes. The medium flex (80) is forgiving enough to ski all day without your shins screaming, and supportive enough that you're not floating around in the boot when the terrain gets rougher.

Who It's For

The S/Pro Supra 85 W is the right call for an intermediate woman skier who puts in full days on groomed terrain, wants a boot she can grow with through the season, and doesn't want to fight her footwear the whole time. The 100mm last suits medium-width feet. Women with very narrow or very wide feet will likely be happier in something else — bring your feet in and we'll sort it out at any of our three locations.

If you're already skiing at an advanced level and spending most of your day pushing hard on firm snow, you'll probably outgrow the flex quickly. The 85 W is a strong intermediate boot, not an expert one.

Flex & Fit

Salomon rates this boot at a medium flex — enough forward drive to communicate with your skis without overpowering a skier who's still building their technique. The 4-buckle closure uses aluminum 3D buckles with three position options on the instep buckle, so you can dial in heel hold without killing the top of your foot. There's also a 35mm velcro strap across the top of the cuff and a riveted cuff alignment pivot — that pivot lets a bootfitter adjust the cuff left or right to match your leg's natural stance, which makes a real difference in edge-to-edge feel.

The liner is the other big piece. My Custom Fit™ 3D Sport is pre-shaped around the ankle right out of the box, and it heat-molds for a closer fit when we run it through the process. Paired with our boot fitting service, this is one of the more approachable boots to dial in for all-day comfort. The Light² footbed is lightweight and slightly contoured — it's a fine starting point, though a drop-in or custom footbed will get you more if your arches or pronation are a factor.

Tech That Matters

The shell is polyurethane — consistent density, predictable flex from cold to warm. The 3D Instep Shell uses thinner plastic and angles the second buckle at 45 degrees, which locks the heel in more firmly without adding pressure across the top of the foot. Custom Shell™ HD means a bootfitter can spot-punch or otherwise personalize the lower shell in roughly ten minutes. The shell walls are intentionally thin so your foot sits closer to the shell wall, which improves feel and response. GripWalk soles come premounted to ISO 23223 standard, so you can walk comfortably across a parking lot without waddling, and they're compatible with GripWalk-ready bindings.
