The Jacket

The Velika is Rossignol's answer for guys who want warmth without feeling wrapped in a sleeping bag. It's built for all-mountain skiing - groomers in the morning, maybe a lap through the trees after lunch, storm days when the snow won't quit. PrimaLoft Black insulation handles the cold, a taped waterproof membrane handles the wet, and a regular fit gives you room to layer up underneath without feeling bulky. This one's cut for skiers who want a jacket that works hard and doesn't ask much in return.

What We Like

We like that Rossignol split the insulation - 100g in the body, 80g in the sleeves - so your arms aren't stiff and puffy every time you plant a pole or reach for a zipper. Stretch cuffs with thumbhole loops keep drafts out at the wrist, and the fabric itself has give built in, so you can twist into a turn or reach up to adjust your goggles without the jacket fighting you. Zip vents let you dump heat fast if you're working harder than the temperature calls for.

Tech That Matters

The 20,000/20,000 waterproof-breathable membrane is rated to handle heavy snow and rain and still let sweat vapor escape, so you're not clammy under there by the second run. Every seam is taped, which closes off the gaps where wind and moisture usually sneak in. The PrimaLoft Black insulation is made from 100% post-consumer recycled plastic bottles and carries GRS certification - it keeps performing when it gets damp, unlike a lot of down fills that collapse the second they take on moisture. None of this is complicated. It's warmth that holds up and a shell that keeps weather where it belongs, outside the jacket.

Fit & Sizing

This is a regular fit - cut with some room through the body for a midlayer or two, not a tight athletic cut. If you run between sizes and plan on layering heavy for cold days, size up. If you mostly wear a baselayer and light fleece underneath, true to size will do fine.

Why Willis

We've been fitting Pittsburgh skiers since 1970, and we know how to match a jacket to how you actually ski and what you layer underneath. Stop into any of our three locations and we'll get you into the right size before you ever hit the lift line.
