The Jacket

The Outerlimits is Rossignol's answer for guys who want to put in a full day on the hill without babysitting their layering system. It's an insulated shell built for all-mountain riding - groomers in the morning, powder stashes off the side if you find them, lift lines in between. The fit runs relaxed, so there's room to layer up on the cold mornings and still move like you mean it.

What We Like

This jacket doesn't try to do everything - it does warm and dry really well, and that's exactly what most skiers actually need. The 2-layer build with a fully taped interior means seams aren't a weak point when the snow's coming in sideways. PrimaLoft insulation keeps the warmth-to-bulk ratio in check, so you're not walking around the lodge feeling boxy. Zip vents under the arms let you dump heat on a bootpack or a warm afternoon without stripping a layer, and the built-in powder skirt seals things up when you're getting face shots.

Tech That Matters

The membrane underneath is rated 20K for waterproofing, which is firmly in "extremely waterproof" territory - slush, wet snow, sitting on a chairlift in a storm, none of it gets through. Breathability is rated high too, so you're not steaming up inside on a warmer day or a hike-to lap. The DWR finish on the face fabric is PFC-free, which matters if you care about what's in your gear's chemistry as much as how it performs - and it still sheds water the way a DWR treatment should. Fully taped seams back up the waterproof rating so it's not just the fabric doing the work.

Fit & Sizing

This jacket is cut relaxed, not athletic - it's meant to layer over a fleece or a light midlayer without feeling tight across the shoulders. If you run warm or only wear a base layer underneath, you might find the fit a touch roomy through the body, and sizing down is worth considering in that case. For most guys layering normally for a full day out, true to size is the right call.

Why Willis

We've been fitting skiers and riders in the South Hills since 1970, and outerwear is one of those things worth trying on in person before you commit. Stop into any of our three locations and our staff will help you get the sizing right the first time - or find us at our shop at Seven Springs if you're already on the mountain.
