The Piece
This is Rossignol's stretch fleece half-zip, and it's meant to live under whatever shell you're wearing that day. The fleece has real give to it - reach up to grab a chairlift bar or bend down to buckle boots and the fabric moves with you instead of fighting back. Half-zip neck means you can dump heat on the skin-up or the walk back to the car without stripping a layer off entirely.
What We Like
A lot of fleece mid layers get stiff at the shoulders and across the back once you zip a shell over them - this one doesn't. It stays quiet against the skin too, no bunching under a pack strap or a harness. Half-zip is deep enough that you get real ventilation on a warm day without it feeling like you're wearing a v-neck.
Fit & Sizing
Sizes run S through XXL. Fit is close to the body but not tight - it's cut to layer, so there's a bit of room built in for a base layer underneath without feeling bulky. If you run warm or plan to wear this as a standalone piece more often than a mid layer, go with your usual size.
Why Willis
We've been fitting Pittsburgh skiers and riders since 1970, and layering questions are some of the most common ones we get at the counter. Stop into any of our three locations and we'll help you figure out what actually needs to go under your shell this year, not just what looks good on the rack.
