The Pants

Rossignol built this pant for skiers who spend the whole day out there, not just the pretty parts. It's rated 20K for waterproofness, which puts it well past what a wet, heavy snowfall or a slushy afternoon can throw at it, and the breathability rating matches it so you're not sweating through your base layer on the skin track up or a long lap-heavy day. Insulation is synthetic and it's built to add warmth without turning you into a marshmallow - you can still bend a knee, get into a chair lift, and move like a skier instead of a snowman.

The fabric uses mechanical stretch, meaning the give comes from how it's knitted rather than from stretchy fiber blended in. It moves with you through a turn and doesn't fight your stance. Seams are fully taped, so water isn't finding a way in through the stitching on a wet day. Cuffs are reinforced where boots and edges do the most damage, and a built-in gaiter seals things off at the boot top - no snow creeping in when you're breaking trail or falling into deep stuff off a groomer's edge.
