The Snowboard

The Rossignol Alias is a true twin freestyle board built for kids who are past the very first turns and ready to start messing around — butters, switch riding, maybe a box or two. It comes in 130, 135, and 140 cm, so there's a size for a range of younger riders. If you're shopping for your kid's first real setup, our junior snowboards collection is a solid place to start comparing.

The Alias isn't a beginner-shaped board. It's a true twin — identical tip and tail — so your kid can ride it just as well in either direction. The blunted tips are new for this generation. They add surface area right where it counts for pressing and buttering, and they make ollies a little more forgiving to learn on a shorter board.

Who it's For

This board fits a rider who's got comfortable turns down and wants to start playing. We'd call that late beginner to solid intermediate — kids who can link turns on their own, pick their own line, and are starting to look for things to jump off of. It's soft at a 3/10 flex, so a heavier or more aggressive teen rider will probably want something with a bit more response. The 130 works for kids roughly in the 65–110 lb range, the 135 for 90–130 lbs, and the 140 stretches to about the same weight range with a little more board underfoot for kids with bigger feet.

Need to round out the setup? Check out our junior snowboard bindings — bring the board in and we'll make sure everything mounts up right.

Tech That Matters

The AmpTek Auto-Turn Rocker is Rossignol's 70/30 rocker-to-camber blend. There's slight camber between the feet for edge hold and pop, and rocker at the tip and tail so the edges don't catch when your kid is still figuring out their balance. It keeps the board forgiving without making it feel dead.

The Wood 4515 core is vertically laminated wood from sustainably harvested forests. For a kids' board that's going to take some abuse, wood holds up well and keeps the flex lively. The Extruded 4400 base is easy to maintain — it doesn't need as much waxing attention as a sintered base, and it's durable when your kid inevitably finds a rock.

The Twin Freestyle flex is firmer underfoot for pop, softer through the waist so the board is easy to twist and press. Combined with the centered stance inserts, the Alias rides the same front or back — no guessing, no adjusting.
