The Snowboard
The Warden is Rome's answer to the guy who doesn't want to think too hard about which board to grab on a given morning. It's a directional twin, so it rides like a normal directional board when you're pointing it downhill but doesn't punish you for riding switch off a side hit or through a mellow park lap. Fusion Camber underneath blends a normal camber zone through the middle - the part that gives you pop and edge hold - with small rocker pockets tucked under the contact points at the nose and tail so the board doesn't hook up unexpectedly in soft or chopped-up snow. Check out the full snowboards lineup if you want to see how it stacks up against the rest of what we carry.
Who It's For
This is a medium-flex board - about a 5 out of 10 - which puts it in that sweet spot between forgiving and lively. It's got enough give that you're not fighting it on variable snow or bumping through crud, but enough snap underfoot that ollies and pops off natural terrain actually feel like something. That flex range works best for intermediate riders who've got their turns dialed and are ready to start playing around, up through advanced riders who want one board that handles groomers in the morning, a powder day, and a few side hits without being a specialist at any single one of those things. Riders who spend most of their time bombing hardpack at speed or hucking big airs will want something stiffer - the Warden isn't built to be that board, and it'll feel a little soft if you push it that hard.
Tech That Matters
Fusion Camber gives you the traditional camber feel through the middle of the board - solid edge hold, predictable pop off ollies - while the rocker pockets at the nose and tail keep the tips from digging in when you hit soft snow or uneven terrain. It's the kind of profile that lets you stop thinking about where your edges are and just ride.
Bamboo HotRods run through the core to add pop and snap back to center without piling on extra weight. You feel it most when you're popping off a lip or trying to get some air out of flat landings.
PowerSlide Base is built to be low-maintenance. It still needs wax like any board, but it's more forgiving if you go a little longer between tune-ups than you should.
Sizing
Size is about matching the board to your height, weight, and how you like to ride, not just picking the number that matches your boot size. Riders who like a shorter, flickier board that's easy to spin and pop should size down within their range. Riders who want more float in powder and more stability at speed should size up.
Why Willis
We've been fitting Pittsburgh riders since 1970, and board selection is one of those things that's tough to nail from a spec sheet alone. Bring your height, weight, and riding style into any of our three locations and we'll help you land on the right length - and we'll set the bindings up while you're there.
