The Snowboard

The 2027 Rome Hype is one of the friendliest boards on the wall this season. It's a true twin, centered stance, soft-to-medium flex rated 4 out of 10 - built for riders who want to play their way down the mountain instead of racing it. Press it, jib it, spin it switch. It doesn't argue back.

This isn't a board for bombing wide-open runs at top speed. The soft flex that makes it so forgiving in the park also means it gets a little loose underfoot if you push it hard on firm snow at higher speeds. Fair trade for what this board's actually built to do.

Who It's For

The Hype fits riders who are still building confidence or who already know they'd rather spend the day in the park than carving top to bottom. That 4/10 flex means low-speed presses, jibs, and small-to-medium jumps come easy - newer riders won't feel like they're fighting the board. More advanced park riders will like it too, especially for rail laps and side hits where a stiff board just gets in the way. Riders chasing steep terrain or looking for something to hold an edge at real speed should look elsewhere - Rome's stiffer Hype Pro is built for that job.

Tech That Matters

Rome shaped the Hype around a Fusion Camber profile - regular camber underfoot for pop and edge grip, softened by small rocker pockets at the tip and tail so it doesn't hook up unexpectedly on rails or side hits. Bamboo HotRods run through the core, giving the board snap for ollies without stiffening the whole thing up. And the Twin Double Kick shape makes flatland presses feel almost automatic - lean back, lean forward, hold it there.

Sizing

Stand the 143 up next to a smaller-framed or newer rider - it's the shortest of the three and easiest to muscle around for slow-speed jibbing and presses. The 147 is the middle ground, and most average-build riders land here for a board that handles park laps and casual all-mountain days without feeling like work. Riders on the taller or heavier end, or anyone who wants a bit more stability underfoot, should size up to the 151. When you're torn between two sizes, go with the longer one if you ride faster or spend more time pointing it downhill between features.

Why Willis

We've been fitting Pittsburgh riders since 1970, and stance width and binding placement matter just as much as board length when you're setting up a park deck like this. Stop into any of our three locations and we'll get your bindings positioned and your size dialed in before you ever step on snow.
