The Pret Sol MIPS Helmet is one of those rare ones where the price tag doesn't telegraph what you're getting. At $139.95, it carries Pret's full safety stack — Mips® protection, ACT in-mold multi-shell construction, HALEO antimicrobial EPS foam — and wraps it in a low-profile, skate-inspired shell that sits clean under a beanie and pairs neatly with Pret goggles or most other major brands. Four colors this season: Stealth Black, White, Electric Blue Pop, and Turquoise. Clean options, no fuss.

What we Like

The Ripcord360 fit system is genuinely one of our favorites on any helmet at this price. One pull adjusts the fit all the way around the head — not just at the back — so it adapts to different head shapes and eliminates pressure points without any fiddling mid-run. Pull the dial out and the whole thing releases instantly for a quick size change. With gloves on. That matters.

The HALEO antimicrobial EPS foam is embedded directly into the shell, not sprayed on a liner, so it kills 99.9% of bacteria for the life of the helmet. And the VisionVent system aligns the helmet's airflow channels with Pret goggle vents to pull moisture away from your face and keep the lens clear. It's not just that the goggle sits flush — the venting is actually coordinated. Pairs best with Pret's Effect and Prophet goggles. It still works with other brands; you just don't get the full VisionVent benefit.

Level 1 ventilation means always-open direct venting. No levers to forget, no vents to close. It's a good fit for someone who runs warm or skis at a hard pace. If you're skiing slowly or in very cold temperatures and want adjustable venting, the Lyric 2 is worth a look — but for most resort days, the Sol handles it fine.

Fit & Safety

Mips® comes standard in every Pret helmet, including the Sol. The slip layer between the shell and the liner is free to move on angled impacts, reducing rotational forces transferred to the brain. It adds a small amount of volume to the helmet — barely noticeable — but it's there on every hit, not just the straight-on ones.

The ACT in-mold construction bonds overlapping polycarbonate shells directly to the EPS foam in one piece. That keeps the overall weight down while giving you a stiffer, more protective shell than a simple ABS cap construction. The lining is a blended wool and fleece fabric — warm, comfortable against skin, and audio-ready so you can add speakers without pulling anything apart. Ear covers are removable if you want a more open feel on warmer days.

The Sol is sized for a women's-specific fit and works well for beginner through advanced skiers and riders who want reliable daily protection without paying for adjustable ventilation or a full-wrap lower shell. If you're backcountry touring or pushing big-mountain terrain, step up to the Vision or Cirque. For resort riding — this is the one.
