The Helmet

The Pret Epic MIPS is about as clean as it gets in a snow helmet at this price. No manual vent levers, no fussy buckle mechanisms — just MIPS protection, a dialed fit, and HALEO antimicrobial foam, all wrapped in ACT in-mold construction that keeps the weight down without cutting corners on the shell. Four colorways: Carbon Gray, Park White, Slate Blue, and Stealth Black.

What Sets It Apart

The Ripcord360 fit system gives a feeling of true fit and security. It's a full-wrap adjustment that goes around the whole head, not just the back. Pull out on the dial and it releases completely. Most helmets at this price use a cheaper ratchet that only pulls the back of the shell forward — the Ripcord360 cradles the head evenly, and you can feel the difference.

HALEO antimicrobial EPS foam is embedded directly into the liner material and kills 99.9% of bacteria over the life of the helmet. That's not a coating that wears off. The Loden blend wool fabric and fleece lining sit against your head and wick moisture. The ear covers pop off when you want them off and snap back on when the temperature drops again.

Level 1 ventilation means the vents are always open — no lever to fidget with. Good for active days. If you want to close the airflow down, a hat or helmet liner under the shell handles that.

Fit & Safety

The Epic runs Small (51–55 cm), Medium (55–59 cm), Large (59–62 cm), and XL (62–65 cm). Measure your head circumference just above the eyebrows and just above your ears — that's the number to match to the size chart. If you land between sizes, we generally say go smaller: the Ripcord360 has 4 cm of adjustment range, so a snug starting point gives you room to fine-tune rather than chase a helmet that's too loose.

MIPS (Multi-directional Impact Protection System) sits inside the shell as a low-friction layer that can slide 10–15 mm in any direction on an angled impact. That rotational energy is what a standard helmet doesn't address. ACT in-mold multi-shell construction uses overlapping polycarbonate plates over an EPS core, with Specific Gravity EPS density — meaning Pret tunes the foam density differently across impact zones rather than using the same foam throughout. Goggle integration is built in, with vent channels aligned to reduce fogging. The Epic is certified to ASTM F2040 and CE EN1077B.

One note on the fit dial: if you're on the border between two sizes, our blog on MIPS helmet technology is worth a read before you commit — it walks through why fit precision matters specifically with MIPS systems. Or bring the helmet into any of our three locations and we'll put it on your head and check it properly.

Why Willi's

We've been fitting helmets since 1970, and we actually put them on people's heads before they buy. Our staff at all three locations — South Hills, North Hills, and our shop at Seven Springs — can check fit and goggle integration on the spot. If the dial isn't sitting right or the ear covers are pulling, we catch that before you drive home.
