The Jacket

It's a 2-layer insulated ski and snowboard jacket built around a 10K/10K DryPlay membrane — solid, proven protection for resort days where the weather doesn't make up its mind. The shell is 100% circular recycled polyester, and the Teflon Ecoelite™ DWR is PFC-free, so you're not dumping chemistry into the watershed every time it rains.

The 10K waterproof rating means this jacket handles steady snowfall and wet spring conditions without issue. But for the typical resort day — groomers in the morning, maybe some trees in the afternoon, lunch on a sunny deck — it does everything you need it to.

The DryPlay membrane breathes at 10K g/m²/24h. Pit zips help on the chairlift-to-run cycle when you're working hard enough to heat up fast. The fixed snow skirt keeps the cold air out when you go down hard, and the YKK® waterproof front zip with a chin guard is the right hardware for this price. Adjustable cuffs with hook-and-loop closure and a drawstring hem let you seal up tight when the wind picks up.

Pockets are well-thought-out: two side pockets, a chest pocket, an interior zipped pocket, a mesh inner pocket, and a ski pass pocket. Everything zips under a protective flap so moisture stays out. The ergonomic hood adjusts with a single point, which sounds minor until you're trying to tighten it up with gloves on — single-point is faster and easier.

What We Like

The Ridding Spot colorway is a sharp printed pattern that reads well on the hill without being loud for loud's sake. It's the kind of print that still looks good in year two.

We like that Picture put real thought into the sustainability here — 100% circular polyester and PFC-free DWR are choices that cost them something to make, and they made them anyway. The OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 certification backs it up. For a jacket at $289.90, you're getting honest materials and a membrane that works. The body-mapped insulation (80 g/m² face fabric construction) keeps the weight down around 1 kg while still adding meaningful warmth over a midlayer.

Fit & Sizing

The Nitric runs in a straight fit — not athletic, not boxy. There's room for a midlayer without the jacket pulling across the shoulders. If you're between sizes and you run warm, size down; if you plan to layer heavy, take the larger size.
