The Patagonia Nano Puff Jacket has been around long enough that most people in the outdoor world have an opinion on it. Ours: it earns every bit of the reputation. The 60-g PrimaLoft® Gold Insulation Eco keeps you warm even if the jacket gets wet — synthetic insulation doesn't absorb moisture the way down does, so you're not left shivering if a storm rolls in faster than expected. The 1.3-oz 100% recycled polyester ripstop shell sheds light moisture and cuts wind, with a DWR finish made without intentionally added PFAS. It weighs 369 g (13 oz). That's a jacket you'll actually carry instead of leaving in the car.

What We Like

The brick quilting pattern is smart construction — it locks the insulation in place so you're not fighting cold spots after a few seasons of use. Patagonia also updated the shoulder fit and added elbow articulation on this version, so it moves with you whether you're layering under a shell or wearing it out to the lot. The internal chest pocket doubles as a stuff sack with a carabiner clip-in loop, so it compresses and goes straight onto the outside of your pack. Two zippered hand warmer pockets, a zipper garage at the chin to prevent chafing, and a dual-adjust drawcord hem round it out.

One honest trade-off: at 60-g insulation, the Nano Puff is a strong mid-layer or a shoulder-season outer layer. On a cold, wind-driven day, most people want something heavier over the top of it. It suits the skier who runs warm, the person who layers methodically, or anyone who needs one men's mid-layer that pulls duty on and off the hill.
