The Jacket
The Slopeside Puffer is Obermeyer's answer for skiers who run cold and don't want to layer up like it's an expedition. It's built with 600 fill-power equivalent synthetic blown insulation - real puffer warmth. The cut runs relaxed and loose, so there's room for a midlayer or two underneath without feeling too snug.
What We Like
This jacket earns its keep on the truly cold days - the ones where you're standing in a lift line wondering why you didn't wear another layer. The relaxed fit means it layers well without restricting your arms on the way up a T-bar or reaching for your goggles.
Tech That Matters
- Fabric: HydroBlock Sport 100% Nylon 20D Plain Weave (2-layer) with DWR finish
- Insulation: 600 fill power equivalent synthetic blown insulation
- Waterproof/Breathability: 10K/10K
- Fit: Relaxed / Loose
- Center Back Length: 22.75 inches
The 10K/10K rating is solid for a normal resort day - groomers, lift lines, a snow shower here and there. It's not the same tier as a hardshell built for an all-day storm skiing. For everyone else, it holds up fine. The DWR finish sheds fresh snow before it soaks in, and the synthetic insulation keeps its warmth even if it does get a little damp.
Fit & Sizing
This jacket fits generously by design, so if you like a closer, more athletic cut, consider sizing down. If you plan to wear a fleece or a light midlayer underneath on the coldest days, true to size is the move.
Why Willis
We've been fitting Pittsburgh skiers since 1970, and jacket fit is one of those things that's hard to get right off a size chart alone. Stop into any of our three locations and we'll get you into the right size before you buy - not after you've already worn it on the mountain and realized the sleeves are too long.
