The Snowboard

Never Summer built the Trooper to plug a gap in their own lineup. There wasn't a mid-flex, Triple Camber directional twin in the catalog until now - something between the stiffer chargers and the softer park boards. The Trooper sits right in that middle lane. Hybrid Triple Camber gives it camber underfoot for edge grip and pop, with early rise at the tips for a looser, surfier feel when the snow gets soft. Rated 6 out of 10 for flex, it's got enough backbone to hold an edge on a groomer without punishing you for a mellow, playful ride through the trees.

Who It's For

This is a board for intermediate to advanced riders who want one deck to cover a full day - groomers in the morning, side hits and natural features after lunch, maybe a lap through the park if the mood strikes. The directional twin shape rides switch just fine but favors your regular stance slightly, which most riders won't even notice unless they're spending half the day switch. If you're brand new to the sport and still working on linking turns, the camber underfoot is going to feel less forgiving than a full rocker beginner board - this one rewards riders who already have some edge control. Dampness is rated a 5 out of 10, which is middle of the road - it won't feel harsh, but riders who spend a lot of time bombing groomers at speed might notice more chatter underfoot than they'd get from a heavily dampened board built for that job specifically.

Tech That Matters

The NS SuperLight Wood Core cuts swing weight, so the board feels quicker underfoot in bumps, moguls, and quick direction changes - less like you're wrestling a plank. R.I.P. Edge-Hold Technology is built into the sidecut to keep the edge locked in on firmer snow, which matters most right when you're rolling the board up onto edge at speed. Carbon VXR Laminate adds pop and snap without piling on stiffness, so ollies and jump landings feel lively instead of dead. Early-Rise Float Mechanics lift the nose and tail slightly so the board floats over soft or chopped-up snow instead of diving under it. Put together, it's a board that wants to do a little bit of everything rather than specialize in one thing.

Sizing

Pick your length based on how you ride. The 154 and 157 suit riders who like a quicker, more playful board that's easy to throw around through tight trees. The 158 is the middle ground - stable enough for open groomers, still nimble enough for trees and side hits. The 160 is for bigger riders or anyone who rides fast and wants more stability underfoot at speed.

Why Willi's

We've been fitting Pittsburgh riders since 1970, and we know a mid-flex all-mountain board is the one most people actually need - not the flashiest one on the wall. Stop into any of our three locations and we'll get you on the right length and stance angle before you buy, not after. Our techs also mount and tune it on the spot, so you can grab your board and go.
