The Snowboard
The Nokhu is Never Summer's answer for a rider who wants one board that handles fresh pow in the morning and a groomer run in the afternoon without swapping gear. It's a directional freeride and powder board built around a setback stance and an early-rise nose, so the tip comes up and floats instead of diving when you point it into deep snow or duck into tight trees. The triple camber hybrid profile keeps camber underfoot for pop and edge hold, with rise built into the nose and tail so the board stays playful instead of feeling like a plank.
Flex sits at a 5 out of 10 - right in the middle. That's not a board that punishes mistakes, and it's not a noodle either. It bends easily enough to butter and adjust mid-turn, but it's got enough backbone to hold an edge when you lay a board over on firmer snow.
Who It's For
This one's built for an intermediate-to-advanced rider who spends most of the day on natural terrain - side hits, glades, open bowls, the occasional powder morning - rather than a rider living in the park. The setback directional shape and early-rise nose want to be pointed downhill and driven, not spun backward off jump lips. If you're brand new to riding, the setback stance and the way it wants to float will feel unfamiliar; this is a board that rewards someone who already has their turns down and wants more float and more edge grip out of their next board, not someone learning their first linked turn. Riders who split time evenly between park laps and everything else should look elsewhere in our snowboards lineup - the Nokhu just isn't shaped for switch riding or rail features.
Tech That Matters
The core is Never Summer's PowerSurf wood core, laid up with Carbon Max laminate for added pop and a stiffer, more responsive feel underfoot without turning the whole board rigid. STS pre-tensioned fiberglass adds torsional strength so the board tracks straight through variable snow instead of washing out. Along the edges, Never Summer's Power Grip / R.I.P. edge technology is built to hold a clean line on turn initiation - no serrated drag, no chatter, just a smooth bite when you tip it over. Between the triple camber profile and that edge tech, this board is set up to hold an edge on firmer snow just as well as it floats in the soft stuff.
Sizing
At 155cm, the Nokhu suits a rider on the shorter-to-average side who wants a board that's still easy to whip around in trees. Step up to 158cm if you're taller, heavier, or you just ride aggressively and want more surface area under your feet for stability at speed and extra float on deep days. Either length keeps the same directional shape and setback stance - the difference is mostly about matching the board to your height and how hard you push it.
Why Willi's
We've been fitting Pittsburgh riders to the right board since 1970, and we set up every binding and check every base before it leaves the shop. Stop into any of our three locations - South Hills, North Hills, or Seven Springs - and we'll walk you through stance width and setback so the Nokhu rides the way it's supposed to.
