The Binding
The K2 Bond is K2's freestyle binding for men, built with input from Gabe Ferguson, Parker Szumowski and Antti Jussila - three riders who spend a lot more time in the park than on a groomer. It's light, it flexes where a park rider wants flex, and it doesn't fight you when you're pressing a box or stomping a landing off a jump. The strap setup is kept simple on purpose - no extra padding, no bulk, just a clean connection between boot and board.
What Sets It Apart
The Bond runs on K2's Module chassis, which gives true board flex instead of fighting it, and the ankle strap mounts at multiple points on that chassis so you can shift the fit forward or back to change how the binding responds underfoot. The Team Highback is molded from a castor-bean based material and built with a softer flex on purpose - it gives you more range of motion for buttering and tweaking grabs, but it's not the pick if you want a stiff highback for driving hard into big turns at speed. The Wrap Toe Strap is TPU, light, and can sit over the top of the boot or wrap down as a toe cap, whichever you prefer. Underneath it all sits K2's This Grips! basepad, a rubber compound that soaks up vibration between board and binding so your joints aren't taking the hit all day. The footbed itself is sugarcane-based EVA with EcoHarshmellow pods worked in for cushion and grip, and it's part of K2's push toward less plastic in their bindings - along with a manufacturing process that runs over 40% on solar power and packaging that's gone to FSC-certified cardboard instead of plastic.
The GT1 ankle strap is corrugated and flexible so it wraps around whatever boot shape you're running, and the ratchets are aircraft-grade aluminum - they're not going to strip out on you. Forward lean adjusts tool-free between 0 and 7 degrees, and the heelcup adjusts with a single #3 phillips screwdriver when you need a more precise fit.
Who It's For
The Bond is built for park and freestyle riders - guys who want a lighter, softer binding underfoot for jibbing, pressing, and spinning, not a stiff daily-driver for charging groomers at speed. If your riding leans more toward big-mountain lines and high-speed carving, the soft Team Highback flex here will feel underbuilt. But for a rider who lives in the park and wants a binding that moves with the board instead of against it, this is the setup.
