The Ski
The Mindbender 85 W is K2's answer for a skier who's tired of staying on the same three groomers all day. It's got an 85mm waist, which is wide enough to handle a few inches of fresh or chopped-up snow off the sides of the trail but still narrow enough to snap edge to edge on hardpack without feeling like you're wrestling a two-by-four.
This one comes as a package - K2's M3 10 QuikClik bindings on a track system, so there's no guessing on placement and no separate binding purchase to sort out.
Who It's For
This ski is for progressing intermediate women skiers who've mastered the groomers and are ready to explore the rest of the mountain without feeling overwhelmed. It's an ideal choice for someone who wants one ski that handles carving and speed on packed runs just as well as it handles fresh powder and natural terrain, rather than a ski that's built for only one type of day.
Tech That Matters
The tech that matters here starts with the pure aspen core, a lightweight yet resilient wood construction that keeps the ski nimble and damp underfoot, delivering a smooth, stable ride without the fatigue a heavier ski would cause over a full day. That core is paired with K2's SlantWall construction — a 30-degree angled sidewall built into K2's Hybritech design — which sharpens torsional control so the ski holds an edge with real accuracy and power even when the snow gets variable.
An All-Terrain Rocker profile, combining a gradual tip rise with a short, low rise in the tail, is what gives the ski its versatility: the rocker eases turn initiation and boosts float in softer snow, while the design still delivers confident control and edge hold when things firm up.
K2 also incorporates Bio-Resin into the build, an eco-friendly material that helps keep the ski's flex consistent and energetic across a wide range of snow temperatures. The package comes with Marker's M3 10 Compact QuikClik binding, offering full GripWalk compatibility for a quick, dependable setup.
Sizing
The 149cm is the shorter of the two and suits a lighter, shorter, or more cautious skier who wants an easy-turning ski that doesn't demand much speed to feel right. Most skier here will feel great with a ski right around their lips in height.
Why Willi's
We've been fitting Pittsburgh skiers since 1970, and a pre-mounted system ski like this one still gets a boot check on our bench before it goes home with you. Stop into our South Hills, North Hills, or Seven Springs shop and we'll get you set up properly - not just handed a box.
