The Piece

Helly Hansen built this one around a simple idea - you want warmth without weight. So they combined soft pile fleece with a light, diamond-quilted insulated fabric and split the two across the jacket where each does its job best. The result sits close to the body instead of puffing out, which means it slides under a shell for a cold day on the hill and works fine on its own for everything else.

What We Like

The diamond quilting adds real warmth without adding weight, and the pile side breathes better than a straight puffer once you're moving around instead of standing in a lift line.
One thing to know going in - this is a hybrid mid-layer, not a waterproof outer shell. It's built for dry cold and layering, not for standing in wet snow all afternoon with no shell over it. Pair it with a shell on stormier days and it'll do exactly what it's meant to do.

Fit & Sizing

The Bliss Hybrid runs with a fitted, close-to-body cut rather than a roomy one. The elastic hem and ribbed cuffs are there to keep the fit snug at the openings even though the body of the jacket moves with you.

If you're planning to wear this under a shell on cold days, size for your normal fit and leave room to layer underneath. If you're wearing it as a standalone piece in fall or on warmer winter days, true to size is the way to go.
