The Pants
This is the pant for skiers who don't want to trade a slim silhouette for warmth and weather protection. Helly Hansen built the Avanti Stretch 2.0 with a double-layer softshell stretch fabric, so it moves with you through a full day of turns instead of bunching up behind the knee or pulling at the waist.
What We Like
The high waist sits above your hip bone and keeps snow out when you're skiing all day long. Zippered hand pockets close up tight so your phone and lip balm stay put on a bumpy run. Snow gaiters at the bottom leg cinch down over your boot to block out snow when you're breaking trail off the groomed stuff, and the reinforced bottom legs with printed reinforcement hold up against boot buckles and edge scrapes better than a plain hem would. Belt loops let you dial in the waist fit if you're layering underneath. The expandable leg opening has its own zipper, which makes getting these on and off over ski boots a lot less of a fight.
One honest note: the brushed fleece lining is built for active warmth, not deep-cold standing-around warmth - if you run cold on chairlift-heavy days in single digits, plan on a heavier base layer underneath.
Fit & Sizing
These run mid-to-high rise with a fitted, not baggy, cut through the leg - built for skiers who want their pants to move like a second skin rather than layer over bulky insulation. The stretch softshell fabric means sizing true to your regular pant size usually works, and the belt loops give you a little room to adjust if you're between sizes or layering a thin base layer underneath.
Why Willis
We've been fitting Pittsburgh skiers since 1970, and we know the difference between a pant that looks good on a hanger and one that actually holds up on the mountain. Stop into our shop at Seven Springs, or either of our South Hills or North Hills locations, and we'll help you find the right size before the season gets going.
