The Snowboard

The Wagyu is Gnu's directional twin built for riders who want camber underfoot and a board that still spins switch when the mood hits. Cannon Cummins and Jadyn Chumlick had a hand in shaping this one, and it shows in how it rides - stiff enough to hold an edge through a firm morning, loose enough to butter and jib when the park calls. It's hand-built in the USA, part of Gnu's regular lineup in our snowboards selection, and it's not a board that hides in the corner of the shop.

Who It's For

This is a board for riders who already have some mileage under their boots. Medium-stiff flex, traditional camber, a directional shape - none of that forgives sloppy weight distribution the way a soft twin does. If you're working on your first linked turns, this isn't the board that'll get you there faster. But if you're already comfortable on blues and into the occasional black, and you want one board that carves a groomer in the morning and hits a jump line in the afternoon, the Wagyu earns its keep. It rewards a rider who drives from the front foot and knows how to load an edge.

Tech That Matters

Camber underfoot means real pop off the lip and a locked-in feel at speed - press into a turn and the board pushes back instead of washing out. Magne-Traction puts extra contact points along the edge, and on a firm Pennsylvania morning when the groomers have set up hard overnight, that's the difference between skating out and actually holding your line. The upgraded Aspen and Paulownia wood core runs lighter than a standard core while still feeling poppy. The he carbon power bands laid into it add snap without turning the whole board into a plank. A sublimated Co-Ex base, holds wax longer, and it's the right call for a board built to cover the whole mountain instead of one lap through soft park snow.

Sizing

The Wagyu comes in 153, 155, 158, and 159. Go with your height and weight together here, not just one or the other - a directional camber board tracks best when it's matched to how much rider it's pushing around.

Why Willis

We've been fitting Pittsburgh-area riders since 1970, and camber boards like this one are exactly what our techs like tuning up before a firm-snow weekend. Stop by South Hills, North Hills, or our shop at Seven Springs and we'll get your bindings mounted and your edges sharp before you head up.
