The Helmet

The Ledge FS MIPS is Giro's skate-style lid, built for skiers and riders who spend more time in the park than on the groomers. One-piece hard shell construction wraps the whole helmet in a durable shell - the kind that shrugs off rail scuffs, tree branch clips, and getting tossed in the back of a truck between laps. Inside, MIPS sits integrated into the liner, working with the shell to manage a hit that comes in at an angle instead of straight on. It's a regular ask from park skiers and jib-minded riders who come through our helmets section looking for something as tough as their riding.

With Auto Loc 2 the helmet sits right - no gap at the brow, no pressure point at the back of your Head. Stack Vent tech lines up straight with your goggles, pulling enough airflow across the lens to keep fog from creeping in mid-lap on a cold morning.

What Sets It Apart

Skate-style shells like this one trade vent count for a single, solid piece of protection. That's the trade-off - this lid runs a little warmer on a slow, sunny day cruising blue groomers than a helmet built with a dozen open vents. But if your day is jump lines and rails, the hard shell earns its keep. It takes hits a foam-only helmet won't hold up to. Remove the ear pads for those warm days - no big deal.

MIPS is built into the liner here, so the whole helmet moves together during a crash instead of each piece doing its own thing. Auto Loc 2's is the detail most riders notice first - it snugs the fit close enough to the goggle line that you stop thinking about the helmet at all once you're moving.

Fit & Safety

This helmet stays put through spins, off-axis landings, and the occasional rail catch. The closer fit to the goggle line also cuts the gap where cold air sneaks in on a below-freezing morning out on Pennsylvania hardpack. MIPS handles rotational force, the kind you get from a fall that isn't square - which describes most falls in the park. We won't tell you this fixes everything. No helmet does. What it gives you is a layer of protection a hard shell alone can't provide on its own.
