The Ski

The Wingman 78 Ti HD SX is Elan's frontside carver for skiers who spend most of their day on groomers and want a ski that actually rewards a committed edge. At 78mm underfoot it's narrow enough to lay clean arcs on hardpack but not so skinny it punishes you the moment you drift off the corduroy. Add the titanium laminates and the HD construction and you've got a ski with real snap — the kind that loads up in a turn and fires you out of it. Pair that with the included EL 10 binding and it's a ready-to-ski setup with a solid DIN range for an intermediate-to-advancing skier.

Browse our full range of mens skis if you want to compare it against other frontside options before you decide.

Who It's For

This is a groomer ski, and a pretty focused one. Intermediate skiers moving into blue-to-black terrain, or solidly intermediate skiers who know exactly where they like to ski and want a setup that rewards proper technique — that's the sweet spot. The titanium construction adds a bit of stiffness and weight compared to a purely entry-level ski, so it'll push back a little if your stance is sloppy. It's not the ski for someone who splits their days between groomers and deep days in the trees. But if your perfect day is ripping long top-to-bottom runs on firm snow, this ski is made for that.

Tech That Matters

Titanium Laminates — Two sheets of titanium wrapped into the core give the ski its torsional stiffness. That's what keeps the edge engaged through a turn instead of washing out.

Amphibio Profile — The inside and outside edges have slightly different rocker and sidecut profiles. The inside edge initiates turns more easily; the outside edge holds and drives. In practice, it makes the ski feel intuitive to steer without sacrificing grip at the finish of a turn.

EL 10 Binding — A solid step-in binding with enough DIN range for most intermediate-to-advancing recreational skiers. Already mounted and ready to go.

If you're building out a full skiing kit around these, we can help you dial in boots and poles at any of our three locations.

Sizing

The Wingman 78 Ti runs in four lengths — 146, 154, 162, and 170cm. As a frontside carver you want to be careful to not go too long. The happy intermediate should be right around the nose with more expierenced skiers crreping up to the brow in height. When in doubt on a stiffer, more technical ski like this, don't size up.

Why Willi's

We've been fitting skiers in the Pittsburgh area since 1970 and we know this ski. Bring your boots into any of our three locations and we'll mount the bindings to your actual boot sole length — not a guess. That's the only way to do it right.
