The Ski
The Blizzard Anomaly 88 sits right in the sweet spot of the all-mountain category — 88mm underfoot, enough width to float a bit in softer snow but still snappy and quick edge-to-edge on a groomed run. If you've been browsing mens skis and keep landing somewhere between "I want something that rips groomers" and "I also want to play around when the snow gets soft," this is the ski worth looking at.
It's built to handle the kind of day most skiers actually have — a mix of packed snow, a few soft pockets, maybe some crud at the edges of the run. At 88mm it stays nimble, and Blizzard's construction here keeps it lively without being twitchy.
Who It's For
This ski is aimed squarely at the intermediate-to-advanced skier who wants one ski that does the job on most days. Strong intermediates moving up from a softer, more forgiving setup will feel the Anomaly push back with some real energy and reward a more committed turn. Advanced skiers who aren't after a dedicated race or powder ski will find it handles well across most terrain they'd actually ski on a normal day.
At 88mm it's not wide enough to be your deep-powder choice — hard-core skiing in heavy or deep conditions will expose that limit pretty fast. But for the vast majority of days on hill, it earns its place in the quiver. One ski that you can take out on a groomed bluebird morning and still feel solid on when conditions get messy by afternoon.
Tech That Matters
The core of the ski is Blizzard's TrueBlend All-Mountain Woodcore, a tailored blend of denser beech and lighter poplar, which matters because it lets Blizzard tune flex zone by zone — power and edge hold where you need stability, and lighter, more forgiving flex where you need maneuverability. Wrapped around that core is Blizzard's FluxForm construction with two Titanal layers (a full sheet below the core and segmented layers above), which matters because it delivers much of the torsional stiffness and edge grip you'd expect from a heavier, full-metal ski, while the segmented upper layers keep the ski from feeling stiff or punishing at slower speeds. The ski runs a rocker-camber-rocker profile, which matters because the camber underfoot locks in tenacious grip on hardpack groomers, while the rockered tip and tail make turn initiation easier and add a touch of playful float when you wander off the groomed line into bumps or variable snow.
The 88mm waist keeps the turn radius in a manageable, mid-range zone — not a short-radius slalom feel, but not a lazy GS arc either. Accessible without being dull.
Sizing
The Anomaly 88 comes in 164, 170, 176, and 182cm. As a general guide: advanced to expert skiers typically ski a length close to their own height in centimeters. Intermediate skiers usually drop about 5-10cm from that. If you're between sizes, your ability level, your weight, and how aggressively you ski all factor in — call, chat or come in and we'll help you land on the right one.
Why Willi's
We've been fitting skiers since 1970, and we stock Blizzard year after year for a reason — they make skis that actually ski. Stop by any of our three locations and we'll mount your bindings, dial your DIN, and make sure you leave with a setup that works. That's just what we do.
