The Boot

Getting into a ski boot has always been the most miserable part of the day — fighting a stiff shell in the parking lot before you've even reached the lift. The Nexus 120 BOA exists to fix exactly that problem, pairing genuinely easy step-in convenience with a stiff, serious 120 flex, so you don't have to trade real skiing performance for a boot that's actually pleasant to put on.

Who It's For

This boot is aimed at advanced all-mountain skiers who want strong, hard-charging performance but are tired of wrestling their boots on and off at the car every day. It's a particularly good fit for skiers with wider feet or higher insteps, since the last is roomier than Atomic's narrow performance boots. It's also worth a serious look for anyone who's found traditional overlap boots physically frustrating or difficult to get into, without wanting to give up real downhill capability to solve that problem.

Not for you if you're a beginner or a skier who runs the groomers at a relaxed pace. A 120 flex is stiff. It rewards an athletic stance and forward drive. Put it on a hesitant skier and it'll feel like a punishment. If you're still working on your fundamentals, check out our broader ski boots collection — there are softer options worth a look.

Flex & Fit

The Nexus 120 BOA carries a 120 flex, putting it toward the stiffer, more performance-oriented end of the spectrum — built for skiers who want real power and control rather than a soft, forgiving ride. On fit, it uses a 101mm last, which lands in a middle ground: wider and roomier than Atomic's narrow 100mm Prime last, but more precise and less voluminous than the 102mm Magna wide-fit line. That makes it a natural home for wider feet and higher insteps who still want a performance-oriented shell, though narrower-footed skiers may find it looser than they'd prefer. Memory Fit heat-molding is available to further personalize the shell to your specific foot shape. Maybe not a "fit" things here but NexStep construction allows the skier to get in and our of the boot with ease while still making the boot ski like a traditional overlap boot.

Tech That Matters

The whole boot is built around NexStep Construction, which connects a true overlap-shell design — the part responsible for actual skiing performance — to a QuickFlip rear lever that opens the boot wide for step-in and step-out. That's the key innovation here: you get the easy entry people usually associate with rear-entry boots, without giving up the locked-in, responsive fit that only an overlap shell can provide. The Set-and-Forget buckle on the cuff complements this well — you adjust it once for your leg volume, and from then on you never have to touch it again when getting in or out, removing one more daily annoyance. A BOA H+i1 Single Pull dial handles the lower shell closure, distributing pressure evenly and letting you fine-tune tension with a simple turn rather than fighting buckles. Underneath all of that, Prolite construction keeps the shell light while reinforcing only the zones that need strength, and the Mimic Platinum liner with Power Ankle Lock is fully heat-moldable, keeping the heel firmly planted for immediate, responsive power transfer.
