The Boot

At the top of the Hawx Prime line sits a boot that refuses to make you choose between raw power and everyday comfort. The Prime 130 S is engineered to deliver serious downhill performance from the moment you step in, all the way through the last high-speed turn of the day, without punishing your feet to get there.

Who It's For

This boot is built for strong, hard-charging skiers who want top-tier all-mountain performance but don't need — or want — a low-volume, race-tight fit. It's aimed at advanced skiers who are ready to push speed and terrain and need a boot stiff enough to keep up, while still fitting a broader range of foot shapes than the more aggressive, narrower boots in Atomic's lineup. It's a strong choice for someone who's outgrown a softer, forgiving boot and is ready for real power transfer, but whose feet don't suit a narrow last.

Flex & Fit

The Prime 130 S carries a 130 flex, putting it at the stiff, performance end of the spectrum — built for skiers who want to drive hard into a turn and get precise, immediate feedback rather than a soft, forgiving ride. Despite that stiffness, testers consistently note the flex feels progressive and more approachable than other 130-flex boots on the market, so it doesn't feel punishing even at speed. On fit, this is a mid-volume boot built on a 100mm last, which lands it in the middle of Atomic's Hawx range — roomier than the low-volume Ultra line, but more precise than the wide-fit Magna. That combination is part of why it's often described as fitting well right out of the box for a wide range of foot shapes, while still leaving room for further customization through Memory Fit and the adjustable cuff spoiler if more calf volume is needed.

Tech That Matters

The foundation is Prolite construction, which builds the shell from the slimmest possible base and then adds targeted reinforcement only where power actually needs to move through the boot — this is what lets a 130-flex boot stay comparatively light and nimble rather than feeling like dead weight on your legs. That's paired with a heat-moldable Mimic Platinum liner featuring Power Ankle Lock, which locks the heel firmly in place while molding to the exact shape of your foot — heel hold matters enormously at this flex level, since any slop there translates directly into lost precision on edge. Memory Fit takes that customization further by letting the shell and cuff themselves be heat-molded, so the boot's fit becomes genuinely anatomical rather than just approximate. Power Shift ( that’s the "S" in the model name) is the other standout piece of tech — it lets you independently adjust forward lean and flex, meaning you can tune how the boot behaves rather than being locked into one static setup, which matters a lot for a boot expected to perform across varied all-mountain terrain.
