The Boot
The Hawx Prime 100 has been a go-to in our boot wall for years — and Atomic didn't mess with a good thing for 2027. It's a 100-flex all-mountain boot that threads the needle between "I can actually ski this thing all day" and "it actually does what I want when I push it." That's not an easy balance to hit. Most boots at this flex are either too forgiving to give you real feedback or too stiff to handle comfortably on a longer day. This one does both, reasonably well.
Who It's For
Intermediate to strong intermediate skiers. Maybe you've been in a rental boot forever, or maybe you've got an older pair that's packed out and you're ready to upgrade. This boot rewards skiers who've got some mileage — people who are starting to ski more aggressively, pressuring the front of the boot, maybe venturing off the groomers a bit.
Not a boot for true experts or racers. If you're ripping bumps every weekend and charging steeps, you probably want something stiffer — a 110 or 120 flex. And if you're a lighter skier, the 100 flex might actually feel closer to 110 on you. Worth talking through with us before you buy.
Flex & Fit
The Hawx Prime 100 carries a 100 flex, which places it as the most forgiving, supple option in the Hawx Prime lineup — supportive enough to drive a turn confidently across a range of terrain, but relaxed enough that it doesn't demand an expert, aggressive stance to ski well. On fit, it's built on a 100mm last designed for medium-width, medium-volume feet, making it genuinely the "average" fit in Atomic's range — not too tight to cause numbness, not so loose that you lose precision. Combined with the Memory Fit heat-molding process and the removable cuff spoiler, the fit can be dialed in further for calf shape and overall volume, so it works well right out of the box while still leaving room for real customization.
Tech That Matters
The core of the boot is Prolite construction, which flips the usual approach to boot building — instead of starting heavy and cutting material away, Atomic starts with the slimmest possible shell and then adds reinforcement only where it's actually needed, like the Energy Backbone running down the boot's spine. That matters because it keeps the boot light and easy to walk in without sacrificing the structural strength that transfers power into the ski when you're actually skiing. The Memory Fit system is just as important on the comfort side — it uses a heat-moldable shell, cuff, and liner (aided by Atomic's Mimic plastic additive) that can be thermoformed to your exact foot shape, expanding up to 6mm at the forefoot and 10mm at the ankle for a genuinely custom, permanent fit rather than a generic one. The Adaptive Fit System cuff rounds it out with a removable spoiler in the back of the cuff — leave it in for a snugger, classic calf fit, or pull it out (no tools needed) to open up roughly a full cuff size of extra volume, which matters for skiers whose calf shape doesn't match their foot width..
Why Willi's
We've been fitting boots in the Pittsburgh area since 1970, and we do it right — heat molding, footbed recommendations, and a staff that actually skis all week long. Buy your boots here and we'll take care of the fit, not just the transaction. That's the difference.
