The Ski

The ARV 84 is one of those skis we keep pulling off the wall to show progressing younger skiers interested in getting into the park. At 84mm underfoot, it lives right in that sweet spot—not so wide it drags on a groomer, not so skinny it checks out when things get chunky. It doesn't fall apart when you find a patch of leftover pow in the trees. It's a one-ski quiver for a lot of younger skiers at a great price point. And for the Pittsburgh skier who's trying to get out more every season, that matters.

Who It's For

If you're a solid beginner to intermediate skier who wants one pair of skis that can do most things well without babysitting you through the day, the ARV 84 is worth a serious look. It's got enough pop and energy to to be a dedicated park ski for a lighter skier while still having some backbone that a 50/50 skier will still be happy all over the mountain whens its not a perfect park day.

That said — this isn't for you if you're primarily a groomer carver who wants a razor-edge, racetrack feel. The ARV 84 is built with some playfulness baked in, and dedicated carving skis do that job better.

Tech That Matters

Armada uses their Freestyle Rocker: Rockered tips and tails are combined with positive camber underfoot. What that means on snow is that the ski initiates turns easily without feeling washy underfoot where you actually need grip. The wood core keeps it lively without being twitchy. At 84mm, you're getting a ski that floats decently in softer snow but still has enough edge contact for some turns outside the park We've skied a lot of skis in this width class — the ARV 84 earns its reputation.

Sizing

The ARV 84 comes in four lengths: 150, 157, 164, and 171cm. Don't be surprised if our staff recommends sizing up slightly depending on your skiing style and weight. Heavier, more aggressive skiers will want to go longer for better stability at speed. Lighter skiers or those who prioritize quick, playful turns should stay closer to their standard length or even go one down. Come in and we'll sort it out — takes five minutes.
