The Jacket

The Ghost 2.5 is 686's answer to guys who don't want to look like they just walked off a mountain when they're grabbing food after riding. It's a pullover anorak, not a full-zip shell. Clean lines, a shorter cut, and a 2-way zip that opens from the bottom for quick venting when you're working hard on a warm day. 686 reinforced the spots that take the most abuse - shoulders, that kind of thing - with 500D nylon, so the jacket isn't as delicate as a straight 2.5L piece would be on its own.

What We Like

The pullover design keeps the front clean and minimal - no big zip running down the chest - and the half-zip still gives you a real vent option instead of just baking in your layers all day. It reads more streetwear than ski jacket, and that's exactly why it's become a shop favorite for guys who want one jacket that does both jobs instead of owning a separate "going out" coat.

Tech That Matters

infiDRY® 10K handles the waterproofing here, rated at 10,000mm, which covers you through wet snow, slush without needing anything heavier. Every seam is taped, so water can't sneak through the stitch lines even when the face fabric is holding up fine. The DWR finish on top is PFAS-free, so it's kicking water off the surface without the older chemistry a lot of shells still use. An attached, adjustable powder skirt keeps snow out if you go down, the hood adjusts to fit over or under a helmet, and the cuffs use a Velcro Death Grip closure so you can snug them down over gloves. There's a Velcro pass pocket up front with a key clip, and the bottom hem cinches down if wind's an issue.

Fit & Sizing

If you like room to layer a mid-weight fleece or a light puffy underneath, order your normal size. If you run closer to the line between two sizes, size up for extra layering room, since the shorter body length gives you less room to compensate lower down. Guys who like their outerwear fitted and don't plan on stacking heavy layers underneath should stick with their usual size.

Why Willis

We've been fitting Pittsburgh skiers and riders since 1970, and we still think trying a jacket on beats guessing from a size chart. Stop into any of our three locations and our staff will help you dial in the fit before you buy - no pressure, just people who wear this stuff too.
