The Binding
If you're just getting serious about snowboarding — or buying a setup for someone who is — the Arbor Spruce is one of the easiest recommendations we make. It's a beginner-to-intermediate binding that doesn't feel cheap. Soft enough to be forgiving when you're still dialing in your turns at Seven Springs, but put together well enough that it won't fall apart on you by February.
A lot of entry-level bindings feel like an afterthought. The Spruce doesn't. Arbor actually put some thought into the ergonomics here, and it shows the moment you strap in.
What Sets It Apart
The single-mold baseplate and heel cup is the big one. Most budget bindings piece those together from separate parts, and you end up with dead spots in the flex and weird pressure points underfoot. The Spruce keeps it unified — one consistent flex from heel to toe. Your board can actually do what it's supposed to do.
The ankle strap is pre-curved, which sounds like a small thing until you've fought with a flat strap on a cold morning. It sits over your boot naturally and keeps the footbed clear so entry is quick and clean. No wrestling.
EVA footbed underneath keeps things cushioned and lightweight. The highback has enough support to give you something to push against without locking you into a stiff, punishing stance — which, honestly, is exactly what a newer rider needs. You want feedback, not a fight.
This isn't for you if you're already carving hard on groomed runs and chasing steeper terrain. The Spruce is built soft, and a more aggressive intermediate or advanced rider is going to outgrow it fast. But if you're in that sweet spot — a season or two in, still figuring out your style — this binding grows with you without holding you back.
Compatibility
The Spruce works with standard 4x4 and Burton 3D channel disc patterns, so it'll mount to virtually any board in our shop. Pair it with something from our womens snowboards collection or any of the unisex setups we carry and you're good to go. Arbor sizes these in Small, Medium, and Large — see the sizing table below to match to your boot size.
