The Boot
Getting into a ski boot has never been anyone's favorite part of the day — until now. The Rossignol Vizion 4B 100 HV GW is an overlap alpine boot that opens wide at the rear cuff, so you step in like a slipper and ski like a four-buckle performance boot. No rear-entry flex penalty. No hiking your heel down while a buddy holds the shell. You release the Double Buckle on the cuff, the cuff tips back, and your foot drops straight in.
That's the Step-In Technology at work. The Spine Link Mechanism is what makes it hold up on snow: a steel spine locks into a traditional ski position the moment you buckle up, so the cuff sits exactly where it would on any conventional overlap boot. Locked in, it skis like a boot with a 100 flex has any right to ski. Unlocked, it opens wide enough that most skiers won't need to loosen a single buckle to get out.
Who it's For
Intermediate to advancing skiers who want a real all-mountain boot — not a comfort boot that apologizes on steeper groomers. The 102mm last is built for a wide or high-volume foot. If your current boots leave red marks across the top of your foot by noon or squeeze at the pinky toe, the HV last is worth a serious look.
The flex 100 asks you to commit to the turn. It's not stiff enough to punish a skier who's still building technique, but it's not going to hand you energy back if you're a back-seat skier. Advancing intermediates who are starting to drive the front of the ski will feel right at home. Strong intermediates who like to pick up speed and stay on their edges all day will too. Skiers who tend to ski tentatively and stay in the back seat will find a flex 80-90 a better fit.
Our expert boot fitting team can check your foot width and volume. Come in to any of our three locations.
Flex & Fit
Flex 100 in Rossignol's lineup puts this boot at the upper end of the intermediate range — stiff enough that you'll actually move it, forgiving enough that you don't need to be a racer to ski it well. The Dual Core construction puts polyurethane in the shell and polyolefine in the cuff, so the flex feels progressive rather than stiff-then-dead.
The 102mm last is the defining fit spec here. Standard-volume alpine boots run 97–100mm. Two extra millimeters across the widest part of the foot is a meaningful difference for skiers with wide forefeet or higher arches. It's worth noting: if your foot is genuinely narrow, the HV last won't wrap you tightly enough, and you'll ski a sloppy boot.
The Step-In Vizion Liner is pre-shaped and fully customizable. Elasticated zones let the liner follow the cuff when it tilts back during entry so it doesn't bunch or fold. Forefoot Thinsulate Stretch keeps the toes warm without adding bulk, and the Seamless Toe Box removes the seam that causes pressure points on the outside edge of the big and little toes.
Tech that Matters
Step-In Technology: The shell opens at the rear cuff for hands-free entry and exit. The four aluminum micro-buckles and 40mm power strap lock everything down once you're in. Skiing performance is unchanged from a conventional overlap design.
Spine Link Mechanism: A steel spine holds the rear cuff in a traditional forward lean position when locked. Release it, and the boot opens wide — slipper-wide. This is the part that makes the step-in feel work without compromising downhill stiffness.
Bi-Injected Spoiler: Rigid PU core handles energy transfer. Soft rubber sides wrap around the cuff opening and seal against your leg, so there's no gap and no flex dead zone at the back of the boot.
Dual Core Shell: Two materials, one mold. The combination gives a flex curve that builds gradually through the range of motion instead of stacking up all at once.
GripWalk Outsole: Rubber tread with a rockered toe makes walking on lodge floors and parking lots feel more like walking. Compatible with GripWalk-rated bindings. Bring your skis in and we'll confirm the binding match before you mount anything.

Why Willi's
We've been fitting boots in the Pittsburgh area since 1970, and a boot with a new entry system is exactly the kind of thing you want to try on with someone who knows what they're looking at. Stop in to any of our three locations and our fitting team will check the last width against your foot, assess your instep volume, and tell you straight whether the HV is the right call or whether you'd be better served by a different shell. We also do custom footbeds on-site if you want to take the fit further.
