The Helmet

The Shred Notion Noshock is Shred's current flagship all-mountain helmet, and it carries a protection system we don't see in many helmets at this price. It pairs two separate impact technologies in a single shell: the Rotational Energy System™ (RES) handles the angled hits — the ones that twist your head on impact — while the integrated Slytech™ Shock Absorption honeycomb takes the straight-on linear energy. Most helmets address one or the other. This one addresses both, and the layering is what makes the Notion Noshock sit at the top of Shred's ski helmet lineup.

Construction is hybrid: a Shred Shield toughened ABS hard shell on top for durability, with a lighter in-molded lower shell and sidewalls to keep weight down. It comes in at about 495 grams (size S). That's not featherweight, but it doesn't feel heavy on the hill either. 16 vents — controlled by a single 3-position switch — cover top, back, and side airflow at once, so you're not reaching around with cold gloves trying to find separate levers.

Included in the box: 1 Shred Simplify Double Lens goggle and a soft helmet bag.

What we Like

The Fidlock magnetic buckle is one of those features that sounds like a marketing detail until your first day out with frozen fingers. One hand, one click, done. And the RECCO reflector is worth noting — it's a passive chip integrated into the shell that lets mountain rescue teams locate you with radar if things go sideways in the backcountry. No battery, no maintenance. It's just there.

Ventilation control is real and practical. The 3-position switch adjusts all 16 vents together: open for a warm spring day, closed on a cold morning. The XT2 antimicrobial liner keeps the padding from getting funky over a long season. The rear fit dial gives you a micro-adjust for snugness without pulling the whole liner apart.

Fit & Safety

Sizing runs S (51–55 cm), M (55–59 cm), L (59–63 cm). Measure around the widest part of your forehead — that number tells you everything. If you're right on the border between two sizes, go up. The rear dial takes care of the fine-tuning once you're in the shell, but you can't fix a shell that's too small.

Certified to EN 1077B (European snow) and ASTM F2040 (US snow). Those are the two standards that matter for ski and snowboard use. If you want to try it on before you buy, swing by any of our three locations and we'll get you dialed in.
