The Pants
The Quiksilver Porter 20K Snow Pants are a shell pant built for riders who spend full days out in real weather. Not a light-duty pant for bluebird days — a 20K waterproof shell made from a partially recycled non-stretch woven polyester fabric (185 g/m², 5.46 oz/yd²) that sheds serious moisture and holds up over a long season. The 20K rating is a meaningful step up from entry-level 10K pants, and you'll notice it on heavy snow days when cheaper shells start to wet out. We carry the full men's ski and snowboard pants lineup, and the Porter is one of the cleaner, more practical picks in this price range.
The fit is regular to baggy, not slim. It sits comfortably over a mid-layer without binding at the knee, and the articulated knee shaping gives you real bend when you need it on steep terrain. Leg vents open up fast when you're working hard, and the hidden cinch adjusters at the cuffs (accessed right through the pockets) let you dial the hem without fumbling around. A taffeta boot gaiter keeps snow out from below.
Pockets are well thought out: zippered hand pockets, two side cargo pockets with storm flaps, and rear pockets. The jacket-to-pant connection loops at the waistband work with compatible Quiksilver tops to close the gap between your jacket and pants when you go down hard. The HYPALON label at the back is a durable synthetic rubber touch — a small detail, but it holds up where lesser labels crack and peel. This is a shell pant, so you're layering underneath rather than relying on built-in insulation. A good base layer and a mid-layer handles a wide range of temperatures, and you get more flexibility than a fixed-insulation pant gives you.
What We Like
The 20K waterproofing is the headline here. We also like that Quiksilver used a partially recycled polyester shell on a $179.95 pant. That's not nothing at this price. The Blue Coral colorway is a sharp blue-green that reads clean on the mountain without going over the top, and it pairs naturally with a range of jacket colors. Pair these with something from our men's ski and snowboard jackets collection for a put-together kit.
One honest limitation: these are a non-stretch shell. If you're a skier who really drives hard through your turns and wants that stretchy, athletic feel, a stretch-woven pant will fit your style better. The Porter trades that flex for durability and weather resistance. Most resort riders won't miss it. Aggressive carvers might.
