The Jacket

The Peak Performance Whitelight HIPE® 2L Insulated Shell is a resort ski jacket built for full days outside in whatever the weather throws at you. It's a 10K/10K shell with Pinneco® synthetic insulation mapped strategically through the body, sleeves, and hood at 60 g/m², so you stay warm without stuffing a thick mid-layer underneath.

The HIPE® fabric does two things at once. The 4-way stretch panels move with you through every turn, and the 2-way stretch sections hold structure where the jacket needs it. Both are fully seam-sealed and waterproof. And because the insulation is fixed into the shell, you're dry from both directions — wind and wet stay out, sweat works out through the breathable membrane. The underarm vents give you a quick release valve on harder laps when you need it.

The hood is fixed and sized for a ski helmet, adjustable in both height and width. Wrist gaiters with thumbholes seal the cuffs against snow. The integrated snow skirt snaps into compatible Peak Performance pants to close the gap at your waist. RECCO® reflector is built in. The main zipper is a full 2-way YKK AquaGuard®, so you can open from the bottom for venting or driving. Pocket setup is thorough — zippered hand pockets, zippered chest pockets, a ski pass pocket, a goggle wiper, and a mesh phone pocket tucked inside the chest. Nothing feels forgotten.

One note: the fixed insulation means this jacket runs warmer than a pure shell. On a bluebird spring day above freezing, you might find yourself wishing for the underarm zips more than once. It's the right call for cold-weather skiers; less so for warm-spring days when layering flexibility matters more.

What we Like

We carry a lot of men's ski jackets and the Whitelight sits in a good spot. The body-mapped construction is genuinely smart — Peak Performance put the 4-way stretch fabric where your shoulders and arms need it most, and the result is a jacket that doesn't fight you in a tuck or a jump turn. The Terrain Tan colorway is sharp and holds up across a day without looking dingy. We also like that it's made without intentionally added PFAS, so the DWR treatment meets the newer environmental standards without sacrificing wet-weather performance.

Fit & Sizing

The Whitelight runs a regular fit — hip length, slightly dropped hem, cut to layer over a base layer and mid-layer with room for back protection. It's not boxy, but you're not squeezing into it either. Articulated sleeves keep things clean overhead. If you're between sizes or planning to run a heavier mid-layer on colder days, size up. The wrist gaiters and snow skirt do their jobs best when the jacket is sized to fit over your full ski kit.

Why Willi's

We've been fitting skiers and riders in Pittsburgh for over 50 years, and we stock Peak Performance because the technical apparel actually holds up to real use. Stop in at any of our three locations and try the Whitelight on over your own layers — that's the only way to know it fits right. Our staff knows the line and can answer anything the hang tag doesn't cover.
