The Jacket

The Descente 3D Insulater Men's Jacket is Descente's flagship insulated ski jacket. Shell is Dermizax, a nonporous, 4-way stretch fabric from Toray that rates 20,000mm waterproof. It does not breathe through open pores the way a membrane fabric does. Instead it absorbs interior moisture and moves it to the outside fast, so you stay dry from both directions. The jacket runs in Sturdy Green for 2026.

Who It's For

This jacket is cut for an intermediate to advanced skier who wants one piece of real outerwear and is done compromising between warmth and mobility. The S.I.O. pattern minimizes seams and cuts the fabric to follow how your body actually moves on snow, so there is no binding across the shoulders when you plant a pole or reach down a steep pitch. The fit is tailored. It sits closer to the body than a typical shell, which keeps the insulation working and keeps wind from loading the fabric. If you ski in a relaxed, upright posture and prefer a roomy jacket you can layer a thick fleece under, this one may feel snug.

Tech That Matters

Dermizax Shell. Soft, nonporous laminate. 20,000mm waterproof. Blocks wind and wet snow completely, and the 4-way stretch means the fabric moves with you.

3D Insulator System. Descente combines down and 3M Thinsulate in the same jacket. Down carries the bulk of the warmth. Thinsulate fills the zones where down compresses under movement and would otherwise go cold. The result is more even warmth through a full range of motion than a straight down fill would give you.

Heat Navi. A fabric technology that converts light into stored heat. It works on overcast days too, not just in direct sun. On a cold, grey February day it makes a measurable difference in how long the jacket stays warm without you having to work for it.

Breathing System (3D Ventilation). The jacket vents from the front and back. The down-filled panels create structure that holds the vents open, so airflow happens without you stopping to unzip. Body heat and humidity move out without a draft coming in.

Critical Seam Seal. All the stress seams are taped. Water does not track in through needle holes at the shoulders or cuffs on a heavy snow day.

S.I.O. Engineered Pattern. Fewer seams, fabric panels shaped to the body in three dimensions. Less bulk at the joints, cleaner fit, and better mobility than a flat-cut jacket of the same shell weight.

Sizing

This jacket is cut slim. If you are between sizes, go up. The S.I.O. pattern gives you movement even in the closer fit, so sizing up does not cost you mobility. Sizes run M through XXL.
