Giro Roam Goggles 2027
The Goggle
Giro built the Roam for the skier who wants one goggle to handle a whole day - flat light at 8am, bluebird sun by 1pm. The frame runs a wide, face-forward geometry that opens up peripheral vision more than a standard frame, so you catch the mogul at the edge of your line before you catch it with your knee. It's a medium fit, sits well under most helmets, and Giro throws in a second lens built for the flat, gray days our region does so well.
What Sets It Apart
Giro calls it EXV - Expansion View - and it's really just smart frame shaping that widens your side vision without turning the goggle into a windshield. You notice it most on a groomer when someone cuts in from your blind spot and you actually see them coming instead of feeling them. Inside, the foam runs two layers - soft microfleece against your face, tougher backing behind it - so the seal holds up over a season of buckling helmets on and off. The anti-fog coating is baked into the lens rather than sprayed on top, so it doesn't wear thin after a few heavy-breathing days in the lift line.
Lens Tech
The Roam ships with two lenses. Your primary handles sun and mixed conditions. Your bonus lens is a low-light shade for mornings when the sky can't decide if it wants to snow or just sit there gray. Swap between them and you've got a goggle that covers a full day instead of half of one. Both lenses are injection-molded and cylindrical - curved side to side, flat top to bottom - which keeps the field of view wide without the optical stretch you get from a flat lens.
Fit & Compatibility
This is a medium frame with extra internal room for glasses - OTG, over-the-glasses - so you don't have to choose between reading the trail map and seeing your line. If you ski in prescription glasses, this is one of the better setups in the shop. Helmet compatibility is something we check in person - bring your lid by and we'll make sure the gap closes clean with no cold stripe across your foreHead. One thing worth knowing: the frame runs medium, so a narrow face may not get quite as tight a seal as a smaller-fit goggle would give. Try it on before you commit.

Why Willis
We've been fitting Pittsburgh-area skiers with gear since 1970, and goggles are one of those things that look fine on a rack but only prove themselves on the hill. Stop into any of our three locations and we'll get you into a frame that actually seals against your face. Fifty-plus years in, and we still think it's worth trying one on before you buy it.
