The Ski
Your toes go cold before anything else. It happens on the first long chairlift, on a windy ridge, on the kind of day when you keep skiing anyway because the snow is too good to quit. The °bootcap® 2.5 is a one-size-fits-all insulated toe cover that sticks directly to the outside of your ski boot's toe box and keeps your feet 20°F warmer — no batteries, no charging, no app, no disposable warmers to stuff in a pocket and forget.
It's closed-cell EVA foam. It works by trapping your own body heat right where you need it, blocking the cold air and wind that chill a plastic boot shell fastest. Stick them on before you leave the house. That's the whole setup.
What Sets It Apart
The 2.5 is the second-generation design, and the upgrades are real. The bottom layer is a denser, firmer EVA that grips the shell. The top layer is softer and flexible so the cap moves with the boot instead of fighting it. A tapered bottom edge keeps the °bootcap® seated even on a bootpack — the original had a squarer profile that could catch and lift. The adhesive strips are redesigned too: no overlap, no buckling, and a stronger paper backing so the strip pulls cleanly instead of tearing when you peel it. These have been field-tested down to -30°F.
And they don't touch the binding contact zone. Buckles still work. You can still walk. They stay put on chairlifts. Full boot functionality is the whole point — if they got in the way, nobody would use them.
The honest limitation: they insulate the toe box, not the whole boot. If your liner is soaked through or your circulation is genuinely poor, a foam cap on the outside of the shell won't fix that. For most skiers who run cold in the toes and front foot, though, this is the fix.
FAQ
Do they fit my boots? One size fits all adult ski boots. If you're not sure, bring your boots into our boot fitting department — we can check them with you in person at any of our three locations.
Can I reuse them? Yes. Stick them on at the start of the season, leave them on. They're built for full-season wear, not single-use.
Do they work with heated insoles or electric boot warmers? Yes. The °bootcap® works on the exterior of the shell and doesn't interfere with anything inside the boot. Pair them however you like.
What's the difference from the original bootcap? The 2.5 has a stronger dual-layer EVA construction, a tapered bottom edge for a better fit, and upgraded adhesive strips that are easier to install and less likely to delaminate.
Why Willi's
We've been fitting skiers out of the South Hills since 1970, and cold toes are one of the most common complaints we hear — often from people who are already in the right boot. The °bootcap® 2.5 is the kind of fix we actually recommend. Stop in at any of our three locations, and we'll put them next to your boots so you can see how they sit before you buy.
