Not a groomer-only race board. Not a powder toy. A 96mm waist sits right in the sweet spot — wide enough to float when the local mountain gets a decent dump, stiff enough to hold an edge when thing get firm during a dry cycle. There's a snap and precision here that softer, cheaper layups just don't have.

Who It's For

This ski is built for advanced to expert all-mountain skiers who want one true daily driver rather than a specialist tool — someone who wants to crank groomer arcs back to the lift in the morning and still ski moderate powder in the steeps in the afternoon without switching skis. It suits a directional, drive-the-shovel style of skiing that rewards committed, centered technique, and it particularly appeals to skiers who've found narrower all-mountain skis limiting but don't want to jump all the way up to a dedicated powder-width ski. It's less forgiving if you like to ski flat and pivoted at low speed — push it past its comfort zone in short, carved turns and the tail can let go, so it prefers a longer, more committed turn shape.

Tech That Matters

The heart of the ski is its CTI-Powered core, blending carbon and titanal to strike a deliberate balance of stiffness and flex — this is what gives the ski improved stability from tip to tail while keeping enough snow feel underfoot that it doesn't ski like a dead board. That reinforcement sits alongside a Power Woodcore made of ash and poplar, chosen specifically to add stability and dampen vibration at speed, which is why reviewers describe the ski as feeling light and lively yet still composed when pushed hard on firm snow. The HRZN 3D tip is uniquely shaped with expanded surface area — in practice this means a notably wide, rockered shovel (around 129-130mm at the tip on longer lengths) that delivers real float in powder and variable snow despite the relatively modest 96mm waist, which is the main reason this ski skis fatter than its numbers suggest. All-Mountain Rocker with early rise in the tip is paired with minimal tail rocker, meaning more of the tail stays in contact with the snow for grip and stability — useful because it keeps the ski from feeling squirrely at speed even as the front end stays playful and forgiving. A Dura Cap Sidewall, running from base to topsheet, rounds out the build with dependable edge grip and added durability. Worth noting for the sustainability-minded: Atomic states this build uses less fiberglass and resin than a standard layup, cutting CO2-equivalent emissions by about 16%.

Sizing

The Maverick 96 CTI comes in 172, 179, and 186cm. Most skiers in the 5'8"–5'10" range on average to strong builds land on the 179. Go 172 if you prefer a quicker, more playful feel or ski mostly groomed terrain. The 186 is for taller skiers or anyone who prioritizes stability at speed over quick turn initiation. Not sure?
